As a work from home mom I struggled with this. The best thing I could do is find out background info on the company. Are they registered with the BBB? How do they handle complaints? (This and much more useful info can be found on BBB.org)
I wish you luck in finding one that is right with you. Ask lots of questions too, 99% of the time there IS some sort of cost, even when they say its free to start. I was told it was free to start the one I'm working now and after I enrolled I was informed of things I needed to work teh business.
Regardless, I am confident in the company I work with. Just remember it takes time and patience and a willingness to talk about your new work from home venture with excitement and urgency to complete strangers.
