Hi guys! I went with my church care group to a local shelter we visit every week. We volunteer to bring food to feed them on Monday nights and have bible study afterwards. I was astounded at what I experienced. There were so many people that showed up, I was worried we would run out of food! My daughter and a friend of hers also attended and I was very impressed and proud of their efforts. They really worked hard tonight! It was really hard to see so many in need and some with no place to live or to go. What also touched me was that regardless of their circumstances, they continue to push forward, with hope. So many of us have so much and have no hope, these people have so little and so much hope. It was very touching. It really put my heart and mind in perspective. I truly enjoyed giving to these people and will continue to volunteer in this ministry. Thanks for listening folks!

Thanks! It was a very enriching experience. I enjoyed it and am very proud that my daughter worked so hard too. She walked away with a different view on her life.

My daughter when she was a child did a lot with our Lutheran Church with the youth group. She went to Nicaragua and Mexico doing charity builds for the poor. That was an experience for her.

I think that's fantastic that she volunteered her time and efforts to do that in another country! That must have been quite an enriching experience.

The restaraunt that my wife managaes is right across the street from a church that is a homeless shelter as well. There are many evenings that she gives a couple of them a free meal and a cup of coffee. Usually it's the ones that arrive too late to get a cot for the night. Most of these homeless people she sees have jobs but not much cash so she offers them a meal or something to drink etc. There are so many homeless with families as well at this shelter my wife really feels for them. Luckily they don't swarm the restaraunt for a free meal. The ones that get a free meal have tried to pay ever so often but she refuses as it's her way of helping this group. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

There are a couple of them that she only gives water or coffee due to the fact they try to get a free meal even when they get a cot etc.

In that type of situation, it is important to be selective about who and what you give them. Some, do try to take advantage of a good deed and it is smart that you and your wife are intuitive enough to know who is really wanting help and could really use a meal. thanks!

It is very commendable that your wife does this on her own. She has found a way to help some that could have gone hungry otherwise. I think that is fantastic! It is fortunate that they don't try to take advantage of her and her restaurant. Sometimes there is always that one bad apple! It is very good that some have even offered to pay, your wife and you must have tremendously large hearts! That is great and thanks for sharing that.
