when i just graduated from college,i thought that interests must be a prior factor of considering a job. i like english, and i really want to find a job related english, such as international business trader or translator....but my major is not english, and i didn't pass TEM-8,so i switched to be a HR,the salary is not low,and i can have promotion quickly. what about you? thanks in advance for your participation and sharing, friends.

I think according to me, the most important thing would be interest.. Salary comes next.. I dn't look at promotions at such an initial stage in my career, I have just started working.. If u r not interested in what is being offered to u, then u won't be able to contribute to the task 100 percent.. So, its better to take that job that interests u rather than just have guilty feeling of 'What the hell have I been stuck into'.. That's nonsense.. U chose to take that path and its nobody's fault that u r there right now...

I choose a type of job based on interest and then pick the opportunity that affords me the most money in as little time as possible due to being a new mom. There are other factors as well, flexibility - as I'm a mom, and getting along with my co-workers if I have any and working with those with a positive attitude - who are ethical about their work. Don't cut corners so that they can have more time for socializing or are dishonest in other ways to get ahead. Currently my choices are caretaking - its a 24 hour shift and I get a night differential and certification. I've never done this but I'm considering it because I'd get all my hours complete in one 24 hour period and then have the rest of my time with my baby. I might pick up a shift here and there if someone needs to take care of something else. Or maybe I'd choose one extra shift permanently - just a few days after my 24 hour shift. There is room for promotion or picking up more hours. I also have the potential option of working with police doing a research and evaluation job. Its short term - through the end of November which I like, the pay is great, and meals are provided - and the hours are strictly weekend and part time. With either of these I can pick up a job teaching english for a language firm that really needs teachers in my area, I just have to be TEFOL organized. The hours are very flexible, the pay is good and it will be interesting and rewarding work, fufilling most of my requirement - but not offering promotion. As long as I'm paid well and have everything else under my belt, I'm not interested in promotion. I hate being over anyone, I wind up doing all the work myself so that I know its done right. Right now, all my options will allow me to continue school so that I can have a career in which I design my own salary and benefits package as I will likely have my own practice. I guess I chose all three, but right now salary tops the list as it has to be worth the money to put my child in daycare and take time away - and if my husband takes care of him, takes him away from his volunteer research and homework he works on on the weekend.... Great topic!

OH god I hope I know what I want! After finishing colleger I though having a good job and being happy with your co worker is enough but then again...in the end I found out that I really don't know what I want, that I was just going with the flow of life and how I should live it not knowing what do I really want. I just can't find the path that is for me. I like to do lots of things but I still can't find the love of passion to do it seriously. But with all this, one thing is for sure.. I don't go for any promotion or just money.

very frankly speaking, its salary first. What matters most in job what comes into your pocket after the end of month. So frst the salary should be really good. Then come promotins. i don't want my career to be struck at a point. After that come interest.

To be honest with you, I am interested in having a higher salary among the three. I don't have to worry about my interest in the first place because I am using what I learnt at college and I have lots of fun with it. As to promotion, it is not important to me at all. I just want to be an ordinary staff leading an ordinary life.

well, you are a special man,the one that differs from others. i value high salary a lot,and i want promotion too.when i was a child,i have been dreaming to be a successful woman in her career.and i really think that promotion can not only bring you higher salary ,but also popularity and respect.

Hi friend it all depends upon the situation. Each one is having its own importance. If we are backward in financial position than salary is important,if u are not interested in the current job, then interest is important,if u are not satisfied with ur current position then promotion is important......... So,most probably i personally feel promotion is important, becoz if we get promotion automatically the other two come along with them.... What do say friend.................. Have a nice day...............

The most important thing to me would be the interst , without the interset I don't believe that I would be able to continue with something that I hated doing everyday . I have worked many jobs and have always given them up because I couldn't stand what I was doing . Money is important but if you don't enjoy what you do each day then it will make you hate going in to work each day . Or that is the way I feel !!

career - career path
In my career paths, I always look at the salary and my interest for it. If you have the interest, it will just be easy to fall in love with your work. If the salary is also good, you'll be motivated to work harder at the same time. Working hard and your interest will surely be impressed. And with that, your promotion will be at hand. No wonder.

well, you are lucky nengs. you make a point here, and give me a lot of thinkings. but have u ever heard of that you interested job may be a kind of career, which can not get paid or high salary in short time, such as musician or painting.

I am not a graduate any more. So at present I will pay attention to the salary, because I have a family. I hope they will live well.

Well, I would actually consider interest when we will talk about career. Because if you have the interest, you will easily get your salary and promotion.. But with my job today, I prefer first salary,, because i am not in the field where I wanted to be great ^_^

When I look for a job, I would normally look for both salary and interest. Promotion to me is just a bonus.

I think interest is very important. If we have interest at our job then we will try to our best to do the job cheerfully. If we done it nicely then we can get promote and also we might get a high salary.

frankly speaking..salary is the most important for me right now. that is my first priority. but since i don't have much experience much,, right now i have to work and learn so in the future i have a skill i can "sell" and earn much better. but my salary now is not ideal for nowadays daily life..but i think that i will earn very much better if i have something to be "sold",which is my experience..

What actually I aimed when tried for my first job is to enter into the field. Then after getting some experience I Realises that if I need exposure in my career not to look at the salary. So earned experience from different organizations and all are diferent levels. From down to top. Now I am happy that I got what I desrved

To me, a good job will mean having a challenging and interesting job scope, as well as a job which actually provides you a career and the opportunity to learn new things, to expand your knowledge, and to grow professionally and personally. a good working environment and nice and supporting colleagues and bosses, as well as good incentives, recognition etc also plays an important role. .

for me I won't work if not what I like, so I choose interest first then go with higher salary. the last thing since I'm married the nearest office from my home will be also in my priority list. for the promotion I don't think much about that. the important thing for me are the three that I already talked.

at this moment, salary will be the first factor i want to concern. then is interest and promotion.if it is my interest ,i will try my best to perform.and i believe i definitely would get promoted very soon. but now it seems difficult to get promotion in our company.so just the salary.

I feel that for me the most important thing to me is a stable paycheck that is more then enough that i'm not living from paycheck to paycheck, and it's also very enjoyable. As for promotions. An extra bonus here and there would be wonderful, but in most cases it probably wouldn't be needed. If I dont enjoy the job and I feel like i'm living from paycheck to paycheck, i'll keep switching till I find the one that's right for me!
