AMC.....Babe recasted

Alexa Havins will leave All My Children this fall and join her real-life hubby Justin Bruening on the West Coast. Bruening exited AMC last month and Havins will exit in October. The actress joined the show in October 2003.
A spokesperson for All My Children has now confirmed that Alexa Havins (Babe Carey) will exit the show this fall. Rumors of the actress' imminent departure have been circulating for some time.
Havins will exit All My Children in October and head out west to be with her real-life husband, Justin Bruening (ex-Jamie Martin). Bruening opted not to renew his contract and exited AMC just last month. It was widely expected that Havins would follow him - but at the time no one was willing to make an official comment.
Havins joined the cast of All My Children in October 2003 as a newcomer to the daytime medium. The actress was immediately thrust into a front burner storyline involving a baby swap - and the actress and her on-screen persona have been the subject of fans' attention (both positive and negative) ever since. Havins received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2005 for Outstanding Younger Actress.
Tapped to take over the role of Babe is daytime newcomer Amanda Baker. Baker, however, already has ties to the ABC Daytime lineup; the actress is currently tackling the role of Jolene on Night Shift, the primetime spinoff of General Hospital. Baker has also appeared in guest roles on One Tree Hill and Campus Ladies.
Havins makes her final AMC appearance on October 8th, 2007. In an unusual move, Baker will assume the role of Babe on that very same day.
"[Alexa Havins'] Babe will hug Krystal and when they separate from the hug, it will be Amanda Baker[in] the role," clarifies the show rep.

That is really an unusual way of bringing in the replacement. Almost always there is at least a few weeks, but I guess they felt the storyline needed the character there and so why not just do it in an immediate fashion. A very nervy move that I think will work.

I guess the new "Babe" is an okay actress, but I don't think she replaces her very well. I don't think of her as "Babe" when I watch her --she seems like a new character altogether.

I read this on soap central and totally groaned. She just isn't right for Babe. I had just posted a few days ago how disappointed I was in her Jolene character on Night Shift. She has some really big shoes to fill and I am not hopeful. I am sure she is a fine actress, but she isn't Babe.

I always hate when they replace actors, especially well liked ones. Its always hard to fill their shoes. I hope that this new actress can fill the shoes at least better then the new Greenlee. I totally understand why Alexa wants to leave though. I am just going to miss her :(

Well this sucks! I really like Alexa. Oh well! This could be really tricky for AMC though... those of us who are ticked already because of the new Greenlee.. I haven't been watching all that often anymore because I can't stand this new Greenlee so if the new Babe sucks too.. well, I might stop all together :(

First, I had no idea that they were married, I always thought their chemistry seemed so real...I guess now I know why. I hate it when characters are changed, it's usually a little confusing for a while until we forget that they weren't the original. I like the way they plan to take Havins out and adding Baker though, that way maybe it won't seem to be so much of a shock. She will quite literally step into the role.

OMG ~ I was kind of wondering what she was going to do when he quit the show, I hate to see her leave she is one of my favorites on there, too bad it wasn't Greenlee that was leaving, I still don't like the girl!!

Oh that makes me sad. I hate when that happenes. I will really miss Alexa Havis as Babe, I think she has done a great job. I will miss Justin Bruening as Jamie too. Do you know if they will recast Jamie also. I don't like this Greenlee either. I miss the original one.

well i really like alexa as babe i though she may leave after he left i knew it was going to be just a matter of time.. all i can say is i realy hope amanda can live up to the role as babe.. unlike greenlee i wish they would bring the old greenlee back this one i still have not pinpointed why i really dont like her maybe it is just her total attitude... it sucks...but the way it looked on friday kendle may be taking care of that for us..lol.. cant wait till october to see how this one with baker goes..
