Fraternity? how would you define it? In my opinion, it is a brotherhood organization. When you say brotherhood, it should be creating good relationship with your fellows. But why most of this organizations, hurting each other? i just don't see the point. can anybody explain to me the real essence of this "fraternity" thing?...I'm just wonderin' why there are cases of death caused of Hazing, just by joining in a so called "brotherhood"? Please share your thought about this. Thank you.

I feel the same way about sororities as well. It's suppose to be a "sisterhood" thing as well. When I first started college I remember I had wanted to join a sorority. Once I got on campus and started mingling with people and seeing how these people that were in these organizations acted towards people that wasn't, it just totally changed my mind. I don't know if it's like that where you were, but at my college, the people in these organizations stuck their nose up and acted like they were too good to speak to you out in public if you weren't wearing one of the shirts with letters. I don't want to be a part of anything like that. Another thing like you said about the hazing. I don't think I would want to be friends with people who would treat me the way they do during the pledging process, it just doesn't seem worth it to me. and you have to pay dues!! So basically, I'm paying them to beat me up just to be my friend. No thanks, I can make my friends on my own. Nice discussion.

i agree...we can make friends in our on way not in the way they do. i feel so bad for those who dream to be part of that so called "sisterhood" and "brotherhood" thing. that is not the real friendship at all. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. have nice day!
