What is the lowest price you can remember paying for gasoline?

O'K, I'm really risking dating myself here. I can remember paying 23 cents per gallon of regular gas when some gas stations were having a price war when I was in the Army in Maryland. Now days anything anywhere near that is some kind of very temporary screw up by a particular station like I heard about on the news(it was 32 cents per gallon) or some kind of publicity stunt. This is of course in the US. I realize that many other countries have been paying higher prices than we have for a long time and maybe a few pay lower. However, what is the lowest you can remember paying?

I guess when I had my own car and started driving I started to pay more attention. In my area gas was 99 cents for a long time (also in Maryland) When my family and I would travel down south to North Carolina during the summers I would see gas for 79-89 cents a gallon. Gas was always cheaper down south.

Some areas are always cheaper. I live in an oil producing state and yet the gas here is always above the national average and often very close to the highs in the country.

I remember paying 59 cents a gallon about 14 years ago when I first starting driving.

That recently it was 59 cents. I'm not even going to tell you how long ago the 23 cents was.

I remember, maybe as far as 8-9 years ago, seeing gasoline for 75 cents/gallon (Unleaded). That was in San Antonio, Texas. Wow, how times have changed! Right now, the average is $2.50-2.60/gallon where I live - in Houston. Can you say Public Transportation?
