New Bin Laden Video

Once again we are being confronted with the release of a "new" Bin Laden video. I think this is all a bunch of crap. I have serious doubts as to whether he is even still alive. I think the only purpose for them to keep coming out with these videos is to add more fuel to the fire, and, perhaps, to taunt us about the fact that he has not been captured in all of this time.

The video itself has a lot of doubts floating around it. One is the color of the beard. Another is possible dubbing over an existing tape. Third is a continuity error, much like my first point. Isn't he supposedly on his last legs? Now he's showing up healthier than before... whatever. Fourth is the freezing of the tape at certain sections while the speech is going on. The speech itself is a bit suspicious too, at least to me.

You're right on all counts, progamer. The fact that a couple of recent events are mentioned in the tape is NOT conclusive evidence that the man is alive. There are people who are smart enough to do all kinds of wonders with technology now.

I think it has more to do with simple PROPAGANDA.As long as they can keep the people of the U.S.A. divided about the fight in Iraq. And spreading out the troops in various parts of the world .It makes us vulnerable. That is what Terror is all about. I watched a program the other night on P.B.S...I forget if it was either FRONTLINE or WIDE ANGLE But, did you know that we have troops stationed in 88 different locals around the world? I know that this isn't common knowledge because the general media never reports such actions. Can you imagine the various improvements we could be making at home if we didn't have to spend so much money on defending our nation. This is the grand plan of the Terrorist. Keep us weak ..Keep us spending money. They don't have to blow up something to keep us on the defensive.Just spread a little PROPAGANDA and watch us scramble. Think about it, What does it cost the Terrorists to make a five minute video Compared to what it costs us to deploy troops. Just my opinion but I say NUKE the BAST*RD's.

I'm with you on that, pismeof! They should have done this years ago. I know how widely our troops are deployed because I listen to a lot of talk-radio and I also read much of this stuff on some internet sites. I can't shake the feeling that so many of us are asleep at the wheel that we don't have a clue as to what is really going on. Maybe a little less MTV and a few less award shows and sports events might bring things into the proper focus.

I tend to think is propaganda from all sides and honestly I'm not sure who benefits the most buy it. If you break it down, the radical islamists gain by posturing and standing up to the great big evil American power. On the other hand the Republicans the current administration gains by this video, because face it everytime the Republicans trot out something we should be afraid of, people vote for them thinking it will protect us. (This is my own political party and it sickens me) I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I do like to play "follow the money" and "see who benefits the most." Not too long ago Bin Ladin released a tape saying that our housing mortgages were leaving us in trouble. I wonder if this isn't some kind of reverse psyhcology. On a similar note, Castro recently stated that Obama and Clinton is an unbeatedable ticket. That puzzles me a bit and again I wonder about reverse psycology. The bottom line for me however, is that if Bin Ladin was going to do something so terrible, he would be doing it, not posturing to the world. It does seem to benefit both him and the current American adminstration though. Keeping a Bush-like presidency in power only strengthens Bin Landin's recruiting power; likewise the Republican's gain by using fear to stay in power. I find it a little odd that with our resources and military that bin ladin has not been captured or killed... which makes me think that someone close to home benefits by having a boogey-man out there to scare us.

I share many of your sentiments, filmbuff. Somebody knows something and is not telling. Who is it really benefitting to keep this man alive if he is not? Why has he not been captured if he is still alive? These are questions we should all be asking. If they could run Saddam Hussein to ground as they did, they should be able to capture this person. Follow the money trail, indeed.

Yes I think its just some false attempt to create a false threat. i believe that the other members are trying to get the profit from this false announcement and I do believe that most of us think he is no more alive.

Yes, cmsk, I think it highly unlikely that a person with such a high profile could go for so many years without a reported sighting by anyone. It makes no sense to me. I am something of a hermit myself, but evn I must venture outside of my apartment every now and then.
