Rats and Mice Invasion

When I was about 13 or 14 we had a very dry year in my area and the rats and mice starting coming into town from the country side seeking food. One kid at school had a rat run up his pants leg. We had mice chewing their way into our house through hardwood molding. Our dog caught a mouse somewhere and was playing with it in the yard. But the topper was when I saw a rat run under a large unused doghouse that had eaves and was in our backyard. I picked up a 3 ft length of 2X4 that happened to be nearby and as I lifted the doghouse with one shoulder under the eave, I swung the 2x4 with my other arm and caught the rat square on and killed it with that one blow. Fortunately the invasion subsided when the draught ended. Have you ever been subject to a rodent invasion?
