What do you people think about the midfield clash at chelsea? Lots of quality midfielders like shaun wright philips, joe cole, obi mikel, ballack, lampard, makelele, essein etc are not getting their regular place because of each others. Has this inconsistency in the lineup paid the price of last years poor display? What do u all think?

Hi there. The question you asked is interesting. It's a fact that there are too many players and they can't play together. This doesn't help them show their real qualities and improve their game. But what I think is that this is good for the team, either if not, for the players. First of all, there is the injury problem - there will always be plenty of injuries during the difficult season in the premiership. And having more players leaves opportunities for the manager. Just to remind you that Essien (a teriffic midfielder) was forced to play as right back becasue of the injuries last season. Second: the season is long, some players are at their top form in the beginning, some of them in the end. Thus, having more players insures the manager that he'll have players in good shape all the time. And third: more plyers opens more opportunities for strategy. some of them are wigers, some are deffensive midfielders, attacking, ets. SO the team can play with 5,4,3 midfielders or whatever. So - as a conclusion. I think that probably it's not the best for the players to have 6 players on merely the same position, but it's quite good for the club. And by the way, what do you think of our deffense this season? It used to be the most secure line of the team before, and this season we've concealed quite a lot of goals so far, haven't we?

First of all thanks for responding bro... Actually the essein thing is the best exapmle of a good midfielder chosen to sit back and be the right back psn which he doesnt enjoy much. And its definitely good for the club having too many players i agree with that. But wont that affect the player morale when he is not beeing chosen for frequent matches especially when he was such a star in his previous club like ballack sheva etc. And our defense was thought to be stronger this season with the arrival of alex, but too many goals wer conceded and there is no excuse either. Hope we do well in the season and claim the title. GO BLUES

Hi there again - you are right - it happens like this very often - a player who doesn't play regularly or always, has problems in maintaining his good shape. Usually this ia a psichological problem. But what I really think that this is a very childish behaviour - "I don't play regularly, I don't feel the trust of my manager," etc. But this is really stupid - today the teams are full of players - 20 or more, you can't play always! So what's the problem - they pay your salary, you play sometimes...what's the big deal if you don't play one match, just to be in the squad for the next??? I really don't understand this childish attitude. By the way - I think out main opponent for the title this year will be Liverpool. What do you think? I've watched the match against them in the beginning of this season, and we looked pretty bad, luckily we were given a penalty to reach the draw... Man UTD have problems, Arsenal are in the "life without HEnry" phase, and Tottenham are as bad as last season - they will make it in top 5-6, but not more than 5th I thnik :) so, I found Liverpool the only real opponent, playing their best premier league football since the arrival of Rafa. what do you think?

But we cant just ignore that thinking its a big psychological problem actually. I used to play the TOTAL CLUB MANAGER pc game and I notice that on not picking a player for 2-3 matches his morale decreases drastically and affects his performance even though he is chosen for the next two games. And especially if the team is performing very well without the player then he assumes himself to be a big zero in such situations. Think of somthing bro..salary is not everthing at such an international stage. Every player wants exposure of some kind and not merely salary. Yeah and speaking of opponents I think liverpool are serious contendors this year with their newly enforeced side. But MANU can recover I think and its early season so anything can happen. Especially when chelsea has got a habit of taking draws outside home.So MANU can improve with the games chelsea draws. Thanx again for responding. And hope to see in each others discussions...:)

I think Chelsea made a wrong decision to sell eidur gudjohnsen. Thinking that Ballack can replace him. But Ballack keeps getting injured. Chelsea has no game planner when he is not on the pitch. Lampard cant do as well as the previous two.

Yeah actually we had many quality strikers around like eidur gudjohnsen, adrian mutu, mateja kezman and all. And we gave away most of them thinking the others could eplace them for good. Most of our expectations dint pay off to say the least. But I never think gudjohnsen was such a big lose because he never won any match single handedly and most of the times he was a super sub scoring last minute goal though he had some of his best games with chelsea [90 minute game]. And ballack is injured unfortunately for most of the season also. But lampard is a quality player even though he plays some boring possession football bla bla bla. Anyways thanx for responding.. Happy mylotting

its time for JM to adopt rotation policy..he shud be making 2 diff sets of teams..and play them in diff competitions..players like terry lampard n drogba wud be common ..but rest wud be rotated on regular basis so that there is no fatique factor while playing champions league on wednesday n premiership on saturday

But I dont think fatigue is the reason for our lack lustre performance. But rotation will do good to the team anyways. The team selection according to circumstances has to be dealt with more seriously. And the champions league is a completly different stage. And it takes more experience and composure from the players. So seletion must be looked upon a bit more seriously. Anyways thanks for reponding bro.......:)
