Salted Eggs..

Colored eggs - It is preserved by soaking them in brine, a combination of salt and water. It is typically used in filipino dishes and delicacies, as it is also eaten as a viand together with sliced tomato.

Let's change topic on those typical egg discussions, this one's different from them as far as I know!LoL This is not about fried eggs, "balut" or even those hard-boiled ones. Has anyone tasted salted eggs, aside from us Asians and Filipinos? Would you dare try some, if you have the chance? It is different from "balut" (Filipino delicacy, which is a fermented duck embryo), as it is soaked in brine and preserved. It is somehow similar from China's century egg, though they differ in color and appearance. We eat salted eggs as a viand, together with sliced tomato and soy sauce!;) We also put them on foods as garnishings, on rice cakes and also on some glutinous rice delicacies. It does taste delicious, as it is salty and smelly at the same time too. I knew that salted eggs were also a typical part of the meal of those rich families, together with dried fish and fried rice in the mornings!;)

No need to be sorry pal, I fully understand your point!;) I believe the taste is really not that good, but I guess it also depends on the hunger a person feels!;)

You don't have to eat it straight, because it's better if you add some sliced tomato in it. Anyways, we all do have different preferences in terms of eating foods!;)

Salted Eggs/Tomato combi - Typical Filipino Dish
Salted eggs should not be smelly. If salted eggs became smelly then it's time to throw these away for it means they are already spoiled. I make sure I buy my salted eggs from my suki or trusted vendors to assure they are not yet spoiled. I can't take the risk of food poisoning just for a salted egg. I love salted eggs though which we normally call red eggs because they are always in red color to make them look peculiar from ordinary eggs which are all but white. Salted eggs with tomatoes make great dish for an ordinary Filipino. It is a cheap dish but it can surely fill any hungry stomach if eaten with a cup of rice. I think in whatever state I am, I can never forget to eat salted egg even for just once a while.
