Do you think we have the power to make our dreams/goals a reality?

Do you think its possible for us to have all we want in life, whatever that may be? What does it take, faith, knowing the right people, belief in yourself, money - what? I have gotten much of what I want, and I am working towards other things. I think its a combinations of believing in yourself, the universe and moving towards what you want.

I think we all have the power within ourselves to reach our dreams and goals. I am living proof that holding on to your dream can be a reality. I am 41 years old, and today I earned my nursing license! I've been dreaming of it for 25 years! I think it takes persistance, hope, faith in yourself to achieve anything. And of course, with God, all things are possible. Never stop trying!

Congratulations and I'm so glad you agree with me. What do you feel it took for you to make your dream a reality?

I think that it took nerve to make my dream a reality. I took a risk, knowing that I could fail. That fear of failing made me work harder to do a great job. During this time, from working at it so hard, I was inducted into the National Honor Society. I couldn't even get that in high school, but I worked harder knowing that it would come out of my pocket!

Wow that's very impressive. I experienced the same thing in Massage Therapy school, despite how difficult it was with all of thos A&P classes. I know you'll make a wonderful nurse.

Now, now, now, artemis...you just know you've hit on one of my favorite topics as it has to do a lot with the law of attraction principles...LOL So much of what goes on in our lives is a result of our thinking...our minds and what we think about is all energy that is sent out to the universe and can pave the way for whatever we want or desire in life...The problem is, we often think of what we DON'T want in our lives, and wonder why we're attracting more of the same...it's a whole mind-set thing, to reprogram one's one for what we do want--and no it's not necessarily easy...There are times that I'm not exactly in the best of health...so I sometimes have to say with gritted teeth..."Thank you for my healing." By saying something positive like this, it shifts gears, and "programs" the mind to direct the body for healing.. The fact is, is that we only use about 10-percent of our brain power...can you imagine the possibilities we could have if we used our full brain potential? Wow! By thinking in a more positive way, we do tend to feel so much better of ourselves, and it raises our self esteem way up there. Another great thing to do, is to do real serious, heavy duty goal-setting...One great book I've read and re-read, and re-read again is Barbara Sher's "Wishcraft" and she shows how one can make a "flow chart" of targeted goals in life..I just did an article over at AC of this very thing...that is to make goals... So to answer your question...do we have the power to make our dreams/goals a reality --Oh yes!!

We are what we dream-if your dream is not anbitious, if you dont put your heart into getting what you dream about, you always live one step behind the drems of your heart. But if you put ambition to your dreams and you work at it, you will get what you dream at anytime.

Wow, I'm so glad so many are in agreement with me on this. Our thoughts become us. We really do mold our own reality - if we believe with every ounce of our being that is!

We can make some of our dreams or goals a reality, but others, we have no control over. It does not matter how much faith, or how many people we know, there are somethings that we cannot get unless the circumstances in our lives are favorable. For instance, things can go wrong and circumstances may get you to make bad judgments. If your father keeps you from meeting the right young man, you may take measures into your own hands, and as a result of your conduct, may panic, and sleep around and become sterile because you went with the wrong guy. If you are made guilty, you may not get the medical help until it is too late. If your parents have saved for your education, and then suddenly the money is gone, you may not get a good enough job or if you have a job, you are working too long hours to be able to attend University or take night school courses without ruining your health. So if everything goes your way, friends, opportunities, the right people, then you can succeed in getting your goals, but if even one thing goes wrong, you are screwed.

I think we do have powers to achieve our goals. If we work hard, think positively and concentrate on our goals, we can achieve those goals. It is our single minded determination, which helps us achieving our goals. Those, who can overcome their negative thoughts and emotions and balance their thinking with rational inputs, can move ahead. Keen desire and fire in our heart to achieve something in our life encourage and prompts us to do better and better in our life. It is good that you have belief in yourself and you could succeed in attaining your goals. Have a nice day!

Absolutely. I finished Massage Therapy school - where I learned the human body from the cellular level up - and now I am studying for my National Certification Exam- for licensing. The AMTA is very strict so the test is extremely difficult and includes Human Anatomy, physiology,Kinesiology, clinical Pathology,T herapy and Bodywork: Theory, Assessment, and Application; and Professional Standards, Ethics, and Business Practices. You never know exactly what will be on the test as each is different -no two alike so we have to study EVERYTHING. Although I did well in school, I could get down on myself and tell myself its been so long since I finished school - I knew that being pregnant rendered my brain to mush so I put it off - but I'm determined to do well. IF I pass I get reimbursed for the $500 dollar cost of the exam. Which is good because I have to buy all kinds of business insurance and such. Since I want to combine this with other therapies and finish school, I have to remain positive about this, as passing this test, will allow me to work part time, for full time wages and thus pay for further schooling. You have a great outlook on life and our autonomy in it. Thank you for once again sharing your perspective Deepak. Your command of English is excellent by the way. There are 22 languages spoken in India - how many do you know? I know that Hindi and English are widely spoken there and my mom had no problems finding English speakers the times she was there for business.

But is setting goals enough? I could say that by next week I will have all my cards organized and the next step taken. But may not follow through. What are the other steps?

I agree with you. As long as we continue to keep trying to get or reach what we want I think we can make our dream or goal come true one day. :)

Well nyumix, I hope all of your dreams and goals become reality! Have you ever seen or read "The Secret" or "What the Bleep Do We Know?" If not I recommend both!

i agree with you that we have the power to make things a reality. i would doubt that we are just living in random realities and powerful force that can't be affected or influenced by our actions. i believe in our inherent power to make things possible. our imagination and resolve to make them happen are the engine of this process. i also believe that faith in the power outside us can help in our endeavors.
