Yes ,I have best friends of course and I have two best friends. All of them are my classmates. But they don't know each other. My best friends are girls ,so I am. I get to know my friend just because a boy who is my friend and she want to know him. And the other one is learning TKD with me ,so we get to know. My parents know them but they have't seen my best friends yet.

My best friend now (a very clichéd response) is my husband. I met him in ’92 when we both were freshly into college. We got married in ’97 and he is the best thing that could have happened to me. He is my soulmate. But the first ‘best friend’ of my life is definitely a gem of a girl in school. I met her in class 6. She was a year elder to me and had failed the previous year and that’s how we got together. Academics apart, she was the most wonderful girl I have ever come across. Usually girls are a bit petty and bicker over the smallest of issues but she was not like that. The simplest, most gullible, selfless, loving soul I have come across. My day would be wasted whenever she missed school and I used to hate holidays when I could not meet her. A pity she got married at 18 (that was in ’89) and moved to another city and after sometime we lost contact with each other. If ever I am given a chance to meet anybody from my past, she would be the first person I would try to contact. Even now, every now and then, I just think of her…I miss her a lot!

No I have made no efforts to trace her. You are not aware of the typical Indian family and the ‘housewife’ daughter-in-law of such a joint family. The last I heard of her, she was happily engaged in raising her family and looking after her in-laws. The no. of letters dwindled over the months and I understood. But as I said, one of my strongest wishes are that I should see her once before I leave!

you have a romantic history. a best friend turned husband. that's just wonderful. but I'm very sorry for the other one. it feels like you lost part of 'yourself'. i bet the other friend of yours must felt the same way too. i think you miss each other a lot. have you ever tried looking for her in www.friendster.com? if she's the 'internet' type of person, there is a chance you could make contact. i guess so... so, good luck and thanks. cheers!

Hi singlepixel! Yes, I do have a best friend. We were classmates since we were high school and went on to the same college university. Although she is working far from me, we get to talk to each other every week if we can't get to see each other. I believe that friendship should be kept alive through constant communication somehow. A simple call will do just to show her I care. She is very close to my family and my hubby as well. I guess, we've came a long way. Take care and have a nice day, dear friend!
