HI, This discussion is regarding breaking down the Adam's Bridge believed to be Ram Setu by Hindus. According to Hindu mythology, Ram Setu was undersea bridge built by God Ram. It is thoroughly describe in Hindu Book "Ramayana" also. This bridge connect India with Shri Lanka. But now Govt of India decides to construct the Sethusamudram Canal by dredging a portion of Ram Setu to create a sea route linking the eastern and western coasts around the southern tip of the Indian Peninsula.Even According to Scientist, it will not good to dredge the bridge not only for India but also for the world's other countries.I think it's crude attempt to insult the culture & Hindu Sentiments. What's your opinion in this regard??

on the surface this appears to be a small issue that is being hyped and politicised.....i don't think any political party involved in the contoversy really cares if it was built by Lord ShriRam or not......i think there are only two aspects to this issue.1) there is surely a lot of money involded in the Setusamudram project 2) there are a lot of votes that may go against you......generally the sentiments of Hindus are not worth attention for politicians ...mainly bcoz these people do not react strong enough to draw attention. the problem is India is really not interested in investigating the facts.why should we depend on some other country for there research on teh subject.don't we have talented people to work it out or we do not want the reality to come to the surface...once that happens the controversy is over and does no "political good" . discuss it in as many ways you want it will always come down to 2 things.Political will and Ignorant people. :) the impact that the project may have on teh ecosystem is altogether a different issue which need not be discussed because I don't think any political party is really going to let that happen.
