My Friends Don't Want To Be My Affiliates

Hello! I have tried some ways to let people know about MYLOT and to get them as referrals, yet I am not doing very well. I put a link on the bulletin board at MySpace and I have sent emails out to my friends who are on my email list. But, I think that my friends do not want to sign up under me because of the fact that I could benefit from them. They would rather turn their backs than to learn about ways to make money. Or they expect that I should tell them about it without having them signup under me. SO how do you guys go about getting referrals. And how do you convert friends both who you know personally and who you know through MySpace or in forums.
