Have you noticed that nearly every woman is wearing fake tan. I am getting really tired of seeing false tans all the time on everyone. Whats wrong with being white? Why is ever woman a varying shade of orange/amber? When will this trend be overtaken by something new? Ahhhhghh What do YOU think

I don't like seeing so many with fake tans. If they are done well and look like a nice glow of color, that is OK, but people go overboard and look orange and unnatural. I tried many self tanners when I stopped baking in the sun and none looked right on me. I now just stay pale year round. I do wear a bit of bronzer in the summer for s touch of color but otherwise, I don't bother trying to look tan. I miss it because I looked so much healthier with a tan but I can't get one to look natural and I don't want to look fake and orange. I think it is fine to look pale these says. The sun is our enemy as far as our skin goes and we don't need to pretend we are tan. If someone can get it just right and look very natural, that is one thing, but usually I can spot a fake baker a mile away. Still, I prefer seeing fake tans than real ones because real tans can lead to skin cancer and it's not worth having a natural deep tan these days as much as I would love to have one again.

A bit of sun is good for you surely. But deep suntan is not I agree. Don't you think that people go completely overboard with fake fake tan?

Me - Before and after my tan
Guilty! I don't think I look orange do I? LOL I don't wear it every day though. Only when I'm going to be on stage with my band. I don't go out in the sun and I'm sooooooo white that when I get under those harsh stage lights I look like a ghost if I don't put some color on my face. Plus my nose and cheeks turn bright red when I get hot and sweaty and I do get very hot and sweaty during a performance. The tan camoflages a lot of that so I don't end up looking like a clown. I do know what you mean though, I've seen some people who put it on so heavy it doesn't look natural at all. I at least try to keep it as real looking as I can. Here's 2 pics of me, sans tan and my stage face. Insult away... I'm a big girl I can take it :D

Ha ha! Amen. I'm white as they come and I don't care. I can barely tan as it is, and I sure don't want to be orange. I remember on VH1 once, they said their was a new race called 'Orange Americans'. ha ha. What is wrong with accepting your color as it is anyway? Why would you want to be orange? I mean, no matter what the place or bottle says, it still comes out ORANGE. Accept your color for what it is. I refused to tan when I got married. I think I'm one of the only women left that didn't go to a tanning bed before her wedding. I got married in October. Who has a perfect tan in late October. Besides, my hubby said I was a little snowflake. ha ha.

I'm part indian so my skin is a little darker of course so I have to be careful and stay out of the sun as much as possible.I wear a visor so my forehead doesn't get dark either and because the sun gives me a headache.

I think you are onto something big here...a bit of VARIATION is what is needed! Enough orange and amber hues, bring on the blue, purple and green ones! Seriously

I am very fair skinned. I go to the "electric beach" about one time a week to keep a healthy glow. Otherwise, I look ghastly sick. It also helps me to keep from getting sunburned so bad. I can't imagine why it really bothers you so much.

This discussion reminds me of my favorite quote that goes "By nature, man is a fool, When it's hot, he wants it cold, When it's cold, he wants it hot, Always wanting what is not." Likewise Caucasians or white people wants a fake tan; whereas brown-skinned or dark-skinned Asians are dying to be white. Look at the proliferation of skin whitening products in Asian countries. I have the same grievance like yours, only the other way around. I also ask what is wrong with the color of our skin?

beauty - beauty is in the eye of the beholder
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being white! As a matter of fact I am more physically attracted to lighter-skinned women. In our part of the world women are scrambling for whitening lotions/creams. You've probably heard this a million times and I'll say it again: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

i dont see anything wrong with fake tan as long as you dont over do it. i use a good brand that doesnt go orange or steaky. i think it makes me look nice and gives me a healthy glow, its better to fake it than to bake it and its safer than frying yourself in the sun.

I dunno. I don;t really mind fake tan as long as it looks real. I think people look stupid orange. I use to use self tanner but only one brand that actually looks really real. It is Marcell Spray on Self Tanner. I have been considering getting some again. Mostly I just want to look tanned because I know my husband likes it, but i think most people do it because it gives the impression of health and activeness, and also a tan can make you look slightly thinner and real sun is so bad for your skin now. I like going to tanning beds because it is so nice and warm, but i don't want to get all wrinkley and leather like.

No fake tan here! I'm all white baby! Not that I'd mind a bit of color on my legs...but I'll get that when I get off my butt and actually go do stuff outside. None of that icky sticky tan stuff for this gal! LoL! It doesn't even look good when you do it that way! Most people put on way too much and just look horrible!

The perception of tan is funny. I tan fairly easily whilst my travelling partner didnt, we went to Thailand and the women there were in awe of my friends creamy skin! however, I dont think there is ANYTHING wrong with having fake tan on. I would much rather see fake tan on a girl then leathery skin which might cause skin cancer. Personally im a great fan, especially as getting a good one means not frying youself in the sun or on a sun bed if you do really want to be tanned. As long as it doesnt look orange! It boosts your confidence, makes you feel slimmer and better looking! You do have to find the right one for you....orange oompa lumpas...no not a good look!
