Heard about my hometown considering selling the Highschool I went to and graduated from to the University and building a new highschool. Talk about bringing back a flood of memories of that building and its halls. Makes me sad to think that my old highschool will never be there again. My niece went to that school and my nephew goes there now. My mom and uncle both went there too as well as a multitude of cousins. It is sad. So have any places from your past been torn down? I no longer live in the same state as my highschool but it is still sad for me.

I know what that is like. The High School I went to is now the Middle School, and the new High School is right down the road. I haven't visited it yet but I want to because this High School is two stories high! The other one was just one story. This is the second High School built in this town in about less than fifteen years. I was part of the first group of 6th graders to go to Middle School! The Middle School and High School students used to be on the same campus, with three buildings right beside each other. The oldest building is from the early 1900's or maybe even late 1800's and still in use.

My old Highschool had three floors. The year I had health my health class was off campus at the elementary school sown the hill from the main building and my locker was way the heck on the third floor. Talk about having to boogy to get to second hour class!!

Oh and my Uncle went to Highschool in the same building and he is 74 years old so it has been there awhile and with additions and all it had morphed into a totally different structure than from his days but there were still parts of the original structure that they had added onto.

That's really cool how some of the original school is in the newer structure. I wonder if they kept the original pumbling/electricity or have updated since then. I think the building at my old school still had the original plumbing pipes(but new toilets, sinks, ect.).

...You have your memories and they are a good thing. Let the building live again as part of the University. At least, it isn't closing and sitting empty. There are a number of schools in my state that are, including my grade school. ...When my sister and I sold our parents house, they changed the color and windows. My sister drove by it. I cannot do that. It is too painful for me yet. Someday, soon, I will becasue my new man is moving here and wants to see where I grew up. Right now, we are planning a trip north to see my cabin and fall colors. ...Home is never the same after you have lived some place else and gone through life changes. Some times going home can be painful. some times it is a joy. I think it all depends on why you are going home. ...Good thread! Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

Well they are going to tear down the building so the whole structure is going. They just want the land for the University.
