What type of spices do you use in your rice for a good flavor?

Sometimes when I am cooking rice, I will simply add the stock from a can of chicken noodle soup. Often times I will add the entire can, including veggies and noodles. Surprisingly, it provides a flavorful rice based dish, that everyone loves. And, it's always easy to add frozen veggies to the nearly cooked rice. I've tried basil, pepper and salt in my rice and that always tastes nice. But, I'm wondering what other kind of spices can be used to flavor the rice. What type of spices do you use to flavor your rice dishes? Any suggestions?

Fry Chopped Garlic & Onions, add your choice of chopped leftover meat + egg, then add the cooked rice and toast it a bit!!! Salt and pepper to taste! Yum yum..... In my country, Philippines, we have a margarine brand "Star Margarine" on its commercial a spoonful of margarine is mixed with freshly cooked rice. It taste good as well, just because of the unique taste of that margarine! Cheers!

We usually dont add so many flavorings or spices on our cooked rice. We just put in pandan leaves and thats it, so nice to it and it taste so yummy, try it. Of course when we cooked fried rice, thats when we add some herbs, some spices for another dish. And I like ricde so white and cooked just right, not soft not hard.

I like a little saffron and black pepper in rice, then add a tiny knob of butter before serving. Onions and chilli flakes and a chicken or veg stock cube are also useful. Cumin goes really well in rice too. Just depends what effect you want, I love spicy strong flavours so I often use extra pepper.

I have used chicken broth, broccoli, corn, diced bell peppers... My all-time favorite things to add to rice are crushed red oepper and toasted almonds! I usually cook the rice, add cooked broccoli and corn. In a large pan I toast broken up almonds. Take those out and stir-fry a little onion and diced bell pepper with some cubed chicken. I use red or yellow. Sprinkle on crushed red pepper while the chicken cooks. When the chicken is completely cooked I dump the rice with veggie mixture in the pan too and add the almonds. Stir it all up nicely in the pan and it's done! This is my favorite way to eat rice!

I personally like chicken broth, diced fresh garlic and a blend of italian herbs (basil, oregano, etc...) Another taste I like is to cook rice with no salt and just add some basil pesto...yummy

I usually just cook my rice with chicken broth and water. I make a huge pot of it at once, though, and freeze part of it. Since I don't want it overly spiced for certain things, I don't add any other spices until I am using that specific small batch. Usually when I make rice, I am using it for cashew chicken the first time. And since that has so many spices in the sauce, I don't want too much spice in the rice.

I like to add some chicken base(diluted)to my rice, garlic and dried mushroom powder. This is not a spice, but i cook it with a can of chicken broth instead of cooking it with just plain old water or beef broth.:)Equal amounts of rice and broth.:)
