In USA, nobody can bargain with the police for fine about red light violation, there is a predefined fine everyone knows. But I know in certain country, the amount of money for penalty can be reduced if you confess honestly to the police or you are very beautiful in the eyes of the police as the fine can be set according to the idea of the police himself. What the situation in your place?

In Romania if you have enough money to bribe the cop, you won't get fined at all. The bribe must be of course smaller than the fine, because there's no point in giving it otherwise. But if you don't get fined you won't get "points" on your drivers license. At a certain number of points they take your drivers license.

That's true, but the cop is generally understanding...after all, we are all humans :)

Oh. If fine is always connected to "points" on the drivers license, in some cases, the bribe may be equal or slightly bigger than the fine at the situation that the guy who is fined wants to keep the driver license clean from "points".

Hi friend, In india, on cases as described here, there are spot fines as laid, but on many cases Police men are bribed and the traffic rule violations are not dealt seriously. ofcourse one must not take away the credit from the dutiful and honest policemen taking stock of the situation.

Both India and China are developing country. For developing country this kind of thing always happen, and I think that's bad as everyone must develop a good skill to bargain with police. I like the style in advanced country, no bargain and pay according to the standard. In that way I don't need to worry that I didn't cut the price/fine to the mount that would reach.

I don't think that I can bargain with police for fine about red light violation. They are always so serious when you are caught against red light violation. What's more, they just give you a fine ticket and you will have to go to the police station to pay for the fine by yourself.hehe

I have witnessed some persons who bargain with the police in Chinese. Maybe it is useless but most people want to try and test whether he is lucky. Of course a fine ticket most likely is issued, but the amount of money on the fine ticket can be much different, and in the small city, even a tciket is hard to get.

Interesting! The situation there is somewhat like in China. In the past, the fine must be payed on spot. But recently as the government realized that there are many disadvantage to pay the money on spot as some guys who were fined may bribe the police. Now most of the payment is done online.
