Sainthood...is it reliable?

There are many saints proclaim or canonized by the Vatican.My question is how will you know that a candidate saint really gain answers to prayers.This is a requisite for a sainthood.How will you know that the Vatican is saying the truth or not.There is no way,but there are proclaim saint who are questionable like the founder of the Jesuit order who is involve in politics and politics of the church.
