personality vs breed

I choose a dog by personality. It doesn't matter what breed it is, or how it looks, I just have to like the personality of the dog. Some of the best ones, in my opinion are mixes or "mutts." What do you think?

Yes I agree! I own 3 dogs which obviously have different personalities. If I were to choose one of them I'd choose the quiet one which is very independent, likes to sleep and always by my feet. Kind of like me! They're all of the same breed (German Sheperd) in fact they're 2 brothers and a sister. Personality matters most when choosing a pet.

I agree. And a certain breed definitely doesn't mean a certain personality. I have a Beagle and he is very cute (yet not too photogenic, lol). Everyone says that Beagles are sweet, playful, and friendly. My dog is mean, I try to play with him but he likes to play by himself, and he is mean to other dogs and people. But anyway, I think the better the personality of the dog the cuter they are anyway.

I have always preferred mutts. I think they have more even temperaments than pure breed dogs and seem to be healthier, too. And you never know exactly what they are going to look like when they grow up. I guess I like surprises!
