Beta fish

I just saw an ad on mylot for a Black Orchid beta fish. It looked beautiful. I have never seen a black beta fish, ever anywhere. Is this a rarity or a common color for the beta fish? I have better luck with beta fish than with a goldfish, when we buy one it will live usually for 2 or 3 years. I saw one once and I wanted it so bad, it was a very pale blue beta fish, just so pretty. Our most active beta was a beautiful deep red one we called Ruby, anytime you would go to feed Ruby, he would puff up all over and flare at you. He was very dramatic and everyone enjoyed looking at him. We've had Spongebob & Patrick and my daughter gave me hers from college, his name was Beelie. My hubby asked that I not bring another one home for awhile, we do get attatched to them. We were really upset when Spongebob died, we had him for a very very long time and he loved for my husband to talk to him. I'd love to know what colors your beta's were and the story behind the fish. I know we all have a fish story or two in us. I hope to find me a black orchid beta soon, I'm going to check in with my local pet store.

Where I live, in Mississippi, I have seen black beta fish before. At the Petamart here, they have them every so often, not all the time. My sister has one. When she got hers, she said that they told her that they only get about two or three black ones in a six month period. I agree with you, they are beautiful.

I have a petsmart near where I live too. I'm going to check them out and see if I can find me a black beta fish. I think they are beautiful! Thank you for sharing with me.
