BSL...a bunch of BS!!!!

Bree & Zane... - This is my 5 year old daughter and our 2 1/2 year old pitbull! As you can see, they get along great! Why ban him because of some humans ignorance?

Okay, a touchy subject for some, not so for others... For those who aren't aware, BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation. I, for one, and totally against this. Banning a breed of dog due to the acts of ignorant owners is not acceptable in my eyes. So they start with PitBulls and Rotts, then what? It will continue to go on and on until there are no dogs that are acceptable to own. I mean, in all honesty here, I own 3 of them (pits) and love them to death. They're greats with my kids, playful, loving, protective (but not overly protective) and a joy to be around! I just don't think it's fair! What do you think???

I'm with you there MissRissa74. I believe that it's the owner of the dog that should lose all rights to owning dogs period if their dog attacks someone cause obviously it's the owner that made the dog that way. I am totally upset at the fact that they are banning certain breeds and not others. They shouldn't ban any of them. There should be a new law to save the animals (dogs) in this case against there heartless owners. You know how they put restraining orders against people when they do things they shouldn't to other people, then that should be done to dog owners who turn them into attackers. We pay for all kinds of things like pet registration, pet tags, etc....what are we paying for if they can't do something to help. I love all breeds of dogs pretty much and don't see why it's ok to ban a pitball but you can't ban a terrier that rips apart someones arm for putting the paper in the door or a schnauzer that attacks people and their dogs. I say this because I know of (first-hand) these two types of dogs can be very viscious. I know of another terrier that almost bit my fingers off when I tried to pick up a piece of food I dropped. So I know where you're coming from and I agree with you. They shouldn't be banning any breeds....BAN THE OWNERS!!!!! It should be a new law!! Maybe we should start a worlwide petition. It makes me think of some clips that I watched from Iraq where the army were killing dogs for fun, and I also know that the Iraqies do stuff to their animals that would be unheard of over here. It is very maddening to know that people are abusing animals and especially dogs. Whenever I see anything going wrong I step in. Sorry that I'm going on about this but like you said, this is a touchy subject for some and to me it is. Pitbulls, Rotts, shepherds, etc. are all the same; they are all loveable and can give love, it's the owners that take advantage of their size and looks and turn them into attacking creatures. That's not fair to the dogs. I have a shepherd....are they gonna ban them next? Let just push the subject and see where we can get with it. I've started different things where I live and I don't know if it's gonna do anything but at least our voices are being heard. Lets save our pets!!

Most definitely, I agree. Maybe a worldwide petition would help, or nationwide...either way! Something needs to be done!

Ya, maybe we should all start some kind of petition and see if it does anything or maybe even hit the papers, maybe tv. I know that there are websites that you can support against animal abuse but there has to be more. We should be able to help the pitbulls and any other breed that they are trying to ban. It is not fair to them, our dogs. What are they gonna do next, kill them all!??!!

I also agree with you... a person begets the attitude of a dog...in my country... PitBulls are raised as fighting dogs that is why, here most of them are fierce but the government never thought of banning them...I think it owner or would be owners of Pits and Rotts should be educated on how to raise thier dogs so that they won't be a threat to the neighborhood...

I definitely agree with everyone in this post. I, myself own a pit bull and she's the best dog we've ever owned! They shouldn't be banned because of their reputation and that's what is happening.
