Severus Snape, truly bad or a double agent for the Order of the Phoenix?

If you have read "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" you will know that Severus Snape has killed Albus Dumbledore and escaped from Hogwarts with Draco Malfoy and the other Deatheaters. Do you think that Snape is truly a Deatheater or do you think that he was following Dumbledore's wishes as a double agent, to use the Avada Kadavera curse on Dumbledore and protect Malfoy? So far I have heard convincing arguments for both side, and my mind is still not made up. Please add your views! Thanks.

I think he's a double agent. If he had wanted to kill dubledore he would have done so already. And why didn't he kill Harry?

That is one of the reason's I can't really decide whether he is good or bad... that whole bit at the end where he is fighting with Harry and still advising him to practice legilimens. I am inclined to think that if Snape is really evil, then maybe he wants to overthrow Voldemort and take his place... but I would prefer to think that Dumbledore's trust was not misplaced.

I think he's a conflicted follower of Lord Voldemort. He wants to break free of the deatheaters but Voldemort still controls him to an extent.

Dumbledore was always so right about things, and he trusted Snape implicitly. Could he have been so wrong? Of course, Snape has always acted more like a bad guy than a good one, and he's always hated Harry who is Voldemort's greatest enemy. Isn't JK Rowling amazing in how many things she's left us to question in our minds? I wish I had her talent!
