Very seldom promises can be true. I do agree this words that PROMISES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN. Would you agree? Why?

I don't agree. I just think that if a promise was not fulfilled it's simply not meant or that there is more valid reason behind. Sometimes, the opportunity to fulfill the promise is not available so it can not be achieved.

I strongly disagree. Why promise if you aren't going to keep them? Then you are just lying . And why would you lie to a friend or love one?I can see if you said campaign promises because they are all lies that are used to get elected ,but to lie to someone you like or love doesn't make any sense and it can backfire on you so easily.

I agree with you - don't make a promise in the first place if you never intend to keep it. And if it's something you're not sure you'll be able to do/not do, then don't promise, just say you'll try. If people can't trust your word, then they can't trust you.

I would not agree with that. Promises are not always made to be broken. There are some promises that have to be broken because situations in one's life changes, but there are many that you can keep.

What is the purpose of making a promise only for it to be broken? If I am going to make a promise it will be something that I know I will want to and will be able to keep. There is no point in prominsing something that will be impossible.

It would be like praising myself, yet I would like to tell you that I do not believe in breaking any promise with anybody. Either I do not make a promise or if I have made one, I would pull all my strings to fulfill the same. If due to any unforseen reason, I am unable to keep my promise, I will deifinetly keep the effected person inormed, so as not to hurt his/her feelings. Good Post indeed!

i don't agree with that statement at all. when you promise something i really think you should keep it because it's like making a big lie to that person. and think of this... if someone promises you something and they don't keep it... aren't youi going to be mad at them? or feel bad about what they did? that's what you should think... put yourself in their shoes so that you would know the feeling.. sometimes i feel being betrayed in a way if someone promises me something then doesn't even keep that promise. if you can't keep it then don't promise something like that. right?
