How to get referrals

I am new to working online and some people on here have given me excellent sights!I'm trying to find ways to get referrals. If someone could give me a run down on how it all works. I saw a few sites that help but I dont have my own website.

Same here. I am really so naive with how this systems work. I hope someone will give us an inspiring insight. I don't have a blog and I don't know how to build one.

I am having problems getting referrals so I am glad I happened on your discussion. I am going to go to the links on a couple of your responses. Maybe I can get some referrals for some of my other sites.
