Where do you stash your cash until you need it?

So obviously many of us on here make some extra cash online or at least try to save some of the money we do have. With all the options available on where to keep your cash and more importantly how to make your cash work for you and grow, where are the places you are most likely to keep it? Stocks, bonds, CDs, checking accounts, savings accounts, high interest online savings accounts? Personally from my one part time job I contribute 10% of my after tax pay to an employee stock purchase plan in which all stocks purchased are purchased at the lowest price per 6 month period minus 15% which is a great deal. I also use an online savings account like ING Direct to stash my online earnings and sometimes other cash until I need it which nets me a few extra bucks a month in interest.

Hi Quickinstinct, good for you if you are able to save any of your online earnings. I not only cannot safe any money at all, but spend way out more than I make online, so I can't help really in your discussion. It is smart though when one is able to do it, the right moove :) TheFortunes

I also tend to have lower expenses then some other people. For example most of my current expenses including housing and schooling are a mix of grants and loans. Living most of my time lately in a city, I no longer have a car and I only save in small increments (keep in mind they are not always for long term savings rather storing the money where it earns interest until i need it). But anyone can save any amount, in fact ING Direct has no minimums and no fees, if you'd like private message me with your email and name and I can send you a referral that can get you up to 25 bucks free on your first deposit there!

Wow, you must be doing great to actually be making enough extra cash online to think about where to put it. I like to get paid with paypal online because then the money is there if I need it but I am less likely to just spend it thoughtlessly. Of course I'm only talking about small amounts. I really don't make enough to earn interest and most of my goes toward living expenses. Congratulations on making enough to save!

I usually don't keep cash on me but if I happen to, I tuck it in the back flap of my checkbook. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
