My favorite author is the poet Tennyson. I love his work because of his ability to speak in metaphor and truth at once. He draws upon very complex, often dark emotions without all-together lacking faith. I can also relate to him as an artist because he was thin-skinned and somewhat emotionally vulnerable like I am. There is some evidence of that in his work, so I can sometimes relate to what he writes on a personal level as well. But mostly I just love the way his words flow together so perfectly. I'd love to be able to write like him! I also love the work of Goethe too.

There are many authors at the moment whose work I greatly enjoy. My all-time favourites, however, are Stephen King, James Herbert and Virginia Andrews. I'm a massive horror fan, which explains King and Herbert. I also enjoy the way in which they write; King often vocalises what the characters are thinking, which adds to the story immensely, and is adept at leaving broken sentences for the reader to complete. Herbert is great at writing seemingly unrelated, but graphic, events, and then bringing them together somewhere in the story. Virginia Andrews just has a lovely style of writing that I find easy to read. She uses just enough description to allow you to 'enter' the story, but not too much so as that you are bogged down with it.
