I too am a writer. I've been published several times, and am working on getting my first novel published. I do belong to several writing groups though, and they have some great marketing tips. What genre do you write? That pretty much is the basis for criteria when it comes to marketing yourself and your work. One of the best things to do is go to the local library and offer to provide a free lecture/book preview, and give a copy of the book to the library. The library systems are usually pretty good at helping local writers. Another great way to market yourself, is to offer to do a short presentation and book signing at the local bookstores. It is recommended that you start off with the more artsy stores if your work is of that nature. With the growth of the internet, websites, blogs, etc...marketing for the novelist has become very easy. Join some online writing groups that are in the genre of what you write. I write historical romance, so I belong to romance writing groups, historical romance writing groups, and general writing groups. Branch out from that small town, lol. I'm not certain where Tomahawk, WI is, but try the nearest big town, if you find you need more marketing opportunities. Best of luck and blessings.

I mostly write suspense novels. I agree, library's and bookstores are a great help. I'm originally from Racine Wisconsin. I'm hoping to promote more in that area, because it is bigger. I appreciate the tips in Marketing thank you; the same goes to you, good luck with all your work as well.
