Webcam for photographs

I got a webcam and so far the only thing I used it for is to take photos of a TV that I needed for something. It turned out to be a lot harder than I expected. First the webcam does not anchor securely to anything which make turning the focus ring very difficult. The focus range is very hard to get right. Tilting the lens is difficult againg because the webcam is hard to anchor and the tilt has a lot of resistance. Anyone else tried taking photos with a webcam?
