Making the choice to put your animal 'family member' through surgery. My family had to do this-back in April. He was 12 years old but still in very good health. He had surgery to remove a 6# tumor from his spleen(slenectomy). In late May he had complications (very suddendly) and had to be put down. Overall, i guess I'm glad we had the surgery done because he had more than a month of where he was really happy and frisky. He got to run around with his friends a few more times and then I think he knew it was his time. For those of us who are animal lovers-we know what it is like to lose a dog or cat or other pet. That pet becomes apart of the family. Wally would have been 13 next week. I loved him very much and will miss him always-but now he can play with his buddy Travis again.
