Are you PRO or Contra the creation of Artificial Life?

I read an article this morning about Craig Venter, a controversial DNA researcher, who has built a synthetic chromosome out of laboratory chemicals and is poised to announce the creation of the first new artificial life form on Earth.

How do you feel about it?
I am PRO in this case, especially because the researcher is pointiong to new ways of decreasing the global warming with the use of this new genome.

The article wrote;
"I am creating artificial life, declare US gene pioneer
*Scientist has made a synthetic chromosome
*Breakthrough could combat global warming."
The strong part is on his last paragraph that wrote;
"We are not afraid to take on things that are important JUST because they stimulate thinking.".
MY CONCLUSION:-
I am a PRO to his idea and the creation of artificial life because I believe that myself also was created through an artificial life system.
I feel glad to that discovery of new life things.

yes, i am pro in the artificial life too. the human can't escaped the artificial life in the future, this is need for the senior science and technology,and this is a necessary product in the modernization society. do you watch the movie named "Terminator",the major actor is Arnold Schwarzenegger. I think the artifical life which is synthetic chromosome is better than the Predator which is made by the metal and controled by computer.

Generally I would say Pro - as I think it is great that advances in medical science can be used to cure diseases, and make our planet and environment a better place to live. I know a lot of people will hate the idea because they will say that only "God" has the right to create life and take it away,- but I do not agree with this. I think there is a danger that knowledge like this can fall into the wrong hands, and be used for bad ends, not good, but I don't think you should stand in the way of progress.
