I don't think so... But one of my closest friends do and we ended up having a tiff because i like non vegitarian food. His argument is that you become responsible for the death of an animal because you eat it and that there is absolutely no gain you get from eating non vegitarian food. He says that one becomes impure by having such food and human body is not equipped for handling non-veg food. He further argues that all diseases related to the stomach including cysts/fibroids are due to non vegitarian food.Mylotters...please let me know your opinion on this.

I don't believe it is a sin. There is no doctrine or religion that says eating meat or dairy is a sin. Now in the bible it said that pork is bad, but a lot of people eat it now, because we are a cleaner society now. There is no direct relation to cysts/fibroids and non-vegetarian food. People have been eating meat since prehistoric time and we have subsisted on it and lived quite healthily. Your friend is very committed to his beliefs but he is trying to push it on you and that is wrong. He needs to respect you as well.

I think that a vegan or non-vegan diet has to do with personal taste more that anything. I'm a meat eater but avoid red meats due to my taste buds saying no thanks! My daughter on the other hand disliked meat from the first time I put Gerber's chicken in her mouth. She gave me a look like I was trying to poison her! Human beings are carnivores and meat is an excellent source of protein. Our bodies must have protein for optimal functioning whether it be pork chops or peanut butter. It's the moderation of food that can be a challenge!

Not at all. I like both veg and non veg. But as per the belifes of some religious castes, eating non veg is a sin. But I am fully opposing your friends argument. Eating and being eten by somebody is the rule of nature. Human beings are well developed So this is not applicable to them.

not at all. why shoukd it be like that? I am a non veg myself and I enjoy taking non veg food. There is no question of being impure. But nowadys many people are turning veg by choice for health benefits.

Saying that being a meat eater is sinful is directly stupid. I do respect the people who defend such position, but really, they have no clue about this at all. Humans have been omnivorous since they appeared in the face of the planet, way before religions appeared, and now some people want to tell us that it's wrong? no way. Survival is our primary instinct, and kill to eat is included there. I am against unnecessary killings, but eating meat is necessary and healthy.

This really depends on your religion, and what type of food you eat. There are some that refuse to eat pork, as they see it as a sin, there are some that refuse beef, it really all depends on your christian demonination, and your own personal beliefs. Personally, I can't sit down to a meal without meat, bread, and potatoes!

Non-vegetarian = MEAT?? Some people are in the opinion that it is a sin to kill ANY LIVING THING, hence it is a sin to eat meat. Just like someone i know... who said he doesnt want his blood to be tainted with another animal's blood... For all i know... muslims are prohibited from eating pork, therefore eating pork will become a sin for a muslim. For hindus - they do not eat beef (cow's meat) because cows are sacred to them - therefore, eating beef will become a sin to a hindu. Is there any other religion that doesnt allow to eat any other meat ? To me - To sin is to go against God, or your religion. So, if your religion does not prohibit you to do so, it is not a sin to eat meat. Most of my vegetarian friends - become vegetarians because they fear of the unhealthy issues that comes with eating meat... nothing to do with sin. I guess it is true.. the modern illness we have nowadays (cancer, high blood pressure, cyst, fibroids) are somewhat due to our food intake, our food preference, but then... it is our choice - to eat meat, or go vegetarian.... i dont think it is right to label eating meat (non-vegetarian) as a sin.

to eat meat is a sin ?... in which book (of which religion)? i guess if it 'written' in some kind of book, then... to that person practicing that particular religion - it is a sin. muslims - are prohibited to eat pork - so eating pork will be a sin to the muslims, hindus - do not eat beef (cow meat) because they believe cows to be sacred.. so eating beef will be a sin to hindus, ... any other religion that doesnt allow meating any certain meat ? to me - being a vegetarian - is matter of choice - personal choice or preference... some people like your friend are in the opinion that it is a sin to kill ANY living thing... hence, eating meat is a sin. maybe it's true.. that eating meat does contribute to our modern day illness - such as cancer, cyst fibroid... but these are all because the meat we eat nowadays - are from animals that are reared with modern day feed tainted with chemicals, antibiotics.. and what-nots.. so... eating too much meat may be bad for health... but it is NOT a sin!.. again... to me.. it's a matter of choice.. i prefer meat, i like meat and i'll eat meat for as long as i can.

Hi lovelydame. Personally, I feel that your friend has being too extreme in the topic. Haha. Everyone has different point of view and he can't claim others to be wrong when our views are different from his. Alright, let's just bring the point to smoking. Smoking is unhealthy but see, there are still a lot of people smoking. Smoking does stand a very high possibility for cancer but NOT ALL person that smoking will get a cancer. So, it's just the same concept, even eating non vegetarian food for life doesn't mean you will get the disease related to stomach too! Well, basically I am a Buddhist and in fact some of my family members are taking vegetarian food but we don't use to think that way like what your friend is thinking. I mean my parents do really hope to eat less non vegetarian food due to our religion's view but we never like used to ask everyone do the same thing like what we are doing. Haha. Well, personally I feel it's not a sin to eat non vegetarian food as long as the "food" is not "kill" because of you.
