Confused about the time of day.....

Have you ever took a nap and when you woke up you thought it was the next day, and then panicked because you thought you were late for work or school? lol I remember a time when I did this, and got as far as backing out of my drive when I realised. I had come home from work and fell asleep on the bed, I had just laid down for a moment, or so I thought I wanted too. I woke up feeling like I had slept all night long, and it was just getting dark so it looked like it was early morning just getting light. The time on the clock said 7:45, and I thought oh my goodness I have over slept Im going to be late for work. So I jump in the shower and rush around getting a lunch fixed and everything. The Simpsons were on the TV, and this SHOULD have triggered something in me, but no I went on, thinking why are the Simpsons on so early in the morning? lol I grabbed my lunch, I even made coffee to drink on the way to work and realised that as I was backing out of my driveway and saw the HS kids parked in the bank parking lot behind my house that it was the same day, and not the next morning. lol Somebody has to have done this! I cant be the only one. So how far did you get before you realised you were just confused? What was it that triggered the light bulb to go off? Bay xx

I hate when I take a nap and wake up in the evening. Great how am I supposed to go to sleep again in a few hours. Gah! I have been confused about the time before too. Its a weird feeling. I never went anywhere thinking I was supposed to be there or anything but I have felt confused when I have awaken from nap a few times.

I find that if I take a nape TOO late into the day, like after 2 or 3 pm, Im feeling like total sh!t when I wake up and like you said, a few hours later your supposed to be going to bed. I really mess up my sleep pattern. So I try and take a nap before noon! Hehe Bay xx

Hi my friend, this was really good story. You make laugh so hard. Nothing like this happen to me, since we have different numbers in watch. After 12, we have, 13,14,15....so I know when it is morning or afternoon. But whn we were living in Germany something similar happen to my man and he was just all panicked, that he would be late again.I look at him at fist, if he is making fun of me, or if I understand pretty good, since it was 6 p.m., but when he started getting dress, I have to stop him.Now I see, what a shame, I should let him go to the work, i would have some fun story for you, or maybe not, beucase he would probably kick my butt not to tell him, what day it is.

I have but not as far as you did.... It happend not long ago I was on the couch with the kids watching a movie and the sun was out and it was a beautiful day, I soon fell asleep but when I woke it was raing and so dark and I thought what the hell and jumped up and looked at the clock and the kids and was in a panic till I realised that it was simple only an hour later and that the rain clouds had arive which were forcast for that day, but because it was beautiful before, I didn't realise.... I have had many strange experiences like that even when I was a kid and I thought I missed a whole day of school whilst sleeping.... It usually happens when it is dark or on dusk and when it is a miserable rainy day. I tend to misplace time and always think it is later than it usually is.....

I guess our minds can play tricks on us while we are sleeping! I can see where your confusion came in though, I mean when you went to sleep it was nice, then it was all rainy. I bet your kids were looking at you like whats going on? hehe Im not good with time either, it will slip by me and I wont even know it. Ugh. Bay xx

lol! Yes, I did experience that. Usually it happens when I take a nap in the afternoon (around 5) then wake up at around 9 or 10pm. And it was like, 'oh my God, Im gonna be late on my work' then I would grab a towel and head fast to the bathroom. Only when Im at the bathroom would I realize what time it was. lol!

Yes plenty of times. Sometimes I wake up seeing 7 something and think "ah time for work" and then I read PM on the clock and that snaps me back to reality. Seems I'm taking more and more naps too.

You a'ight Gamer?? lol I dont know why I didnt notice the PM on the clock, it just looked like the sun was coming up and not setting! I had MANY clues to alert me it was PM and not AM but I totally ignored them and kept rushing around freaking out about being late for work! Bay xx

I work at home and rarely have a need to know the day or time unless it is trash pick-up day or time to pay bills. My companion watches me, because I really pull some time orientation stunts. I'm terrible about waking up on the weekend because I hear a truck outside that sounds like a garbage truck. I'll wake him up and ask him if he took out the garbage and he'll remind me what day it is. And then on Labor Day, I woke him up when he was sleeping late declaring he was going to be late for work. So glad he doesn't have the affliction, imagine how embarrassing that would be.....lol. I actually set watch alarms to tell me during the day what time I have to leave for a meeting or call someone. Time just doesn't seem to register in my brain, or maybe that's the correct time doesn't register....hehehe. I've been known to show up for a doctor's appointment on the wrong day. They just keep telling me wait until I'm senile.....and I've always been this way. lol.......it feels good to laugh about, sometimes it is soooooo embarrassing, especially when someone else has to tell me I'm out of it.

Bless your heart Cotruelove! I really feel for you, this only happened this one time. I have never again been disoriented about the time or the day like I was that day. lol Not sure what was going on. Ive been dreaming that I was late or something and have woke up, but I recognized it was a dream and went back to sleep. Good you can laugh at yourself! You will be fine! Bay xx

It never was a problem when I worked outside of the house. Don't know why I'm able to deal with the times and days when it is requirement, but when it isn't I loose track. Could be that I just relax more working at home, and just don't put enough importance on knowing the day or time.

This sort of thing has happened to me. I remember getting up because it was cold in the room, so, I shut the room, proceeded to the shower, got dressed, and putting on make up, getting ready for work. I couldn't figure out why I was so tired, until I finally looked at the clock, and it was 1:00 AM. I got undressed, and went back to bed for another 5 hours. I figure I got messed up because I usually close the window in the bedroom when I wake up, and I guess in my mind, it was wake up time. It doesn't help that I'm a shift worker, so, my times are really screwy. It's 4:45 AM, and here I am at work. Really messes me around. I know where you're coming from.

Oh no! I hate waking up that late in the night and mess up my sleep when I have to get up in just a few hours. You have a much more valid excuse than I did, shift work will mess up your thinking! Ive done it before. Working a midnight shift I cant tell what day it is unless Im looking at a calander! And even them Im still confused as to what time it is. Bay xx

I guess I have experienced this kind of confusion, usually on a sunday, when I take my nap and wake up a little past 5pm and I feel like its Monday morning.Usually I would wake up with a start and then the panick that I was running late would get to me. But then after a few minutes, I would realize that it is still Sunday and that there is no need for me to rush.

Yes, I have this funny experience when I took a nap one afternoon and woke up in the middle of the night. I taught it sunrise already, I took a bath, put on my school uniform and about to eat my breakfast. When my mom saw me, she was confused at first and when she found out what was on my mind, she can't help but laugh and give me a big hug. She changed my clothes and led me to sleep again. It was then I realized it is still time to sleep. lol

Hi. This has happened to me as well. It's really funny. I was bashed to my housemates for not waking me up early as I'm already late for work. They laughed and I realized, its still evening. And I was happy that it was still evening and not time to work yet. I went on to watch TV. The feeling was good that time ^_^

Yeah once I finally quit laughing at myself I did have a pretty good night. I felt way more relaxed than I did before I got in the car. Good thing your mates didnt just watch you run around getting ready and actually let you leave! That would have been pretty funny! hehe Bay xx
