Internet Virus on a Smartphone

I use my Treo 700 all the time to access the internet, and am on it right now. It is very comfortable for me to do my blogging on my smartphone. I would like to know if there is virus, or spyware issues with smartphones, such as a Treo, and if so, if there is software that can be put on the handheld or smartphone. I ritually clean my treo, several times a day. I delete files, stop running applications so as not to overwhelm the device, and turn off and turn on to refresh the system. I take the best care possible with my Treo and have blogged about caring for the device. However, I need to learn more about security issues, virus and spyware issues relating to smartphones. I have a Microsoft Windows device.
