Are your kids into the goth/emo/punk scene?

My 15 yr old is and I guess that he & his buddies have been stereo typed as "devil worshipers", "depressed", "unstable", etc. just cause they dress in black & stuff. Funny thing is that they all go to church, have a youth church group, have a bible group in school and for the most part are very good kids. They don't get into any trouble, act like normal teens and are just great kids. Have you had to deal with this? I'm not against it since I listen to the same music & all as they do, even dress like them cause I like to be different and not like everyone else, so I'm all for it. What are your opinions?

Oh I love this discussion, clamarco. Yes, my daughter would go to church dressed in all black and even did the goth makeup with lines going down her eyes with a cross at the end. And there was a time that half her hair was black and the other half red, that was an experience.lol But I let it go, (though I really wanted her to have her hair all one color for her Aunts wedding, but that's ok, her Aunt understood too;), and over time, she doesn't go all out the way she did. Sometimes now she will wear pastels, but still prefers the dark colors. She is more accountable than most of the youth and even the youth leader. She has matured into a beautiful young lady that needs a job, lol. There is also a site that she enjoyed that your son may like called christiangoth.com They have awesome stories that my daughter says you may have to search around for, but is really breaks down the stereo type of what anyone wears or does..

I will definitely have him check out that site. I'm sure it's just a phase for them but if not, they are just fine too =) Thanks!
