Lending a helping hand.

I was watching Fraiser earlier and in the episode Fraiser lends Ross $1500 and then he keeps seeing her with extravagant clothes and going to extravagant places. He wants to confront her about it. I have also seen an episode of Everybody loves Raymond where Deborah and Ray lend Robert $1000 and he uses it to go on vacation. What would you do if you lent someone money and they spent it like that instead of on necessities?

I would not be very happy if they borrowed it and told me it was for things they needed and then used it on things they didn't. I would not do anything but it would be the last time I lend them money.

Would you ask them to repay you or just forget about it cause of how they handled it.

If I loaned someone money, and there was an understanding why it was being loaned, then I would be upset if I saw them going around in high fashion clothes or going on vacation. And I would talk to them. Not in a nagging way, but in a way they knew I was hurt and confused as to why they would use money they really need, in that way. If I loaned them the money with no spipulations, I wouldn't say anything. But then again, I might drop hints. : )

I think you are right in both scenarios. But I think it would still be some what offensive for them to throw away your money.
