Ok some of you already know I went to court for my daughter's SSI hearing(she has epilepsy,c.p.and some other medicl issues). Well she won YAHOO! I am so glad, well the local office called for me to come in and bring some paperwork with me so we could get her money coming in,they owe her from last year in Sept. Ok what do I need to bring? I know I need my hubby's paystubs and my mortage info, what else should I bring? I could barely understand the person who called me and I lost my voice so it was hard to ask him questions,I am supposed to go in tomorrow. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what is best to bring?

Reading the other responses here I can't think of anything else but am sure where the government red tape is concerned there will be something that no one else in the world would think of. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that all goes well for you.

Oh I'm so glad it went well and they didn't give you a lot of run-a-round, good to see you also - it's been a long busy summer but am starting to get things under control a little.

You need paystubs, any bank accounts, life insurance policies, car titles, retirement statements, birth certificates, for everyone in your household. You need anything that has a dollar amount to it. It is very in detail. Good luck!!!! I am glad that you have won.

They seem to need to know your life history, and you have to stay below a certain income for her to actually draw the money. We have to send in our pay stubs every month which decides how much my son gets each month.

Probably your checking account information so that they can automatically deposit it into your bank account. Congrats on finally winning this one. Hey I'm on Yuwie! I will try to find you and invite you as a friend or you can add me my display name is the same as here.

It's been a LONG time since my kids were on SSI... I think they needed pay stubs, birth certificates and social security cards on all of us if you've not given them those already, and copies of all your non-discretionary bills - mortgage, utilities, car payment, rubbish removal, water, medicals, and an estimate of your food budget (estimate high). If you haven't been keeping receipts for your medicals, jot down on a piece of paper # of doc visits and your copays or dollar amounts, and # of prescriptions filled and amounts, since you applied (this is just an estimate) Separate by month. If you don't have a copy of a bill, just write down what it is and who you pay it to. If you are missing a pay stub, don't sweat it, they can request it from the employer. They may not need all of it... but I think they do. Look around for those receipts though, because you can submit them to Medicaid for payment. Some things, the doctor will refile and then issue you a refund of anything you paid; other things, you send to Medicaid and they'll cut you a check. Be patient with them, they tend to be SLOW... and also, you may not get an actual worker the way you would if you're on regular Medicaid. If you find you're not getting anywhere, call the local Director for help (SSI really knows little about Medicaid, one hand doesn't wash the other with agencies) Also, DO try to cultivate a relationship with her permanent worker @ SSI... you will have hiccups from time to time with them, they'll want to adjust the amount up and down esp if there's a 5th paycheck for your husband, they'll cut her check the following month, which is really a pain. Also sometimes they simply MESS UP, and fixing it will be much easier if you've already got a contact who you've got a good relationship with! Hope this helps!
