have you met someone on a road or on the mall and you forgot his name, then he or she waves on you, how do you react? how would you react on these situations? sometimes when somebody smiles at me and I can not seem to know or remember where I knew him, I just smile back at them. I just wants to be friendly and courteous. I try hard to remember once he is not there anymore to remember hard how I know him or her. do you smile at strangers? do you smile at somebody you do not know? some people would ask the strangers name and where they knew him. some would even try to think about dejavu.

Hi. I never feel awkward in situations like that. What I actually do is that I behave to the person as if I have recognized him as much as he or she knows me and just go on with them in a unruffled manner for what so ever time I can afford to.

I would smile back to him/her. However if I can recognise a stranger but he/she doesn't recognise me, I wouldn't wave to him/her in case that stranger ignores me and makes me embarassed.

yeah that would be one of the reason why we do not smile back to anybody due to fear of being ignored or not recognized too.

Hello there. This has happened to me so many times. Usually I'll smile back if a stranger smiles at me. I think that's basic courtesy. If the person is my friend and I cannot remember his/her name, I'll just smile at him/her. If he/her starts talking to me, then I'll address him as sister/brother. Then I'll ask him/her for their contact number in the hope that they will spell out his/her name for me so that I can save the hassle of trying to recall the name. I think it is embarrassing to admit that I've forgotten his/her name.

oh goodness that always happens to me. i am a singer and we meet strangers everyday, talk to them as well. and of course i cant remember all of their names. sometimes you will see them in a restaurant and say "do you remember me?" (ouch, no i dont) i just say i remember your face but i forgot your name. i wish there is a much sweet answer to that question.

I am actually horrible with names, good with faces. So I might just wave back. Not say a name. Maybe try to get their name again, but dont sound too like they arent important. I have done this before I think and I just like talked to them without using their name. Sometimes people just dont notice that kinda stuff...

Hi rouwel23! Oh, I have those uncomfortable situations especially when after smiling or waving at me, he or she will approach me and call me by my name..Uh oh, that is very uncomfortable, I really try berate my mind and force my mind to think doubly hard to remember the person's name. Well, it is alright if we just smile and wave at each other. Anyway, I really do smile a lot even to strangers. Take care and have a nice day.

I experienced it sometimes. I just give a sweet smile and talk a little. If there is a necessity to remember his or name again, I ask for it and apologizes for forgetting it. if i think no need to do so, then i just don't. It really depends on the situation and the how our conversation runs.

I would smile to the stranger if them smile at me,I would say nothing to them,if we just smile to each other and they speak nothing to me,I needn't try to remember their name when I forget it,because if they do nothing just smail to me,they must have noting to ask me to do,if they speak to me,may be they meet some trouble, then I would help them.
