Weird Pregnancy Cravings

I read a story on weird things that pregnant ladies have been craving. It said that some women crave chalk...yes-chalk. Apparently there's some vitamin in it that is beneficial to the growing baby so therefore some pregnant women tend to want to chew on a stick of chalk. I have never been pregnant but I'm worried about what kinds of weird things I'll want to eat considering I already eat weird food like icecream with tomato sauce! If you've been pregnant before, what sorts of foods did you crave?

When i was pregnant... i loved eating ceasar's salad with ham and cheese... then the dressing shifted to italian... after eating a lot of salad for like weeks... i suddenly had a craving for medium well steaks... i went to the grocery and both raw steak to cook... i don't think that is weird but... i certainly ate a lot...

I craved frozen cokes (slurpees or crushed ice) when I was pregnant with both children. That was the only thing I ever had cravings for.

That's why it's important to take pre-natal vitamins - it helps make sure your body has all the nutrients and vitamins it needs to support the baby. I haven't been pregnant yet, but am taking the vitamins. I have heard of all sorts of cravings, from 7-11 Slurpies, to pickles, to food aversions, like not wanting to eat chicken at all.

I've never been pregnant, however I do get strange cravings just when I have my period. For thinks such as Icecream with bacon and eggs covered in barbecue sauce, fruit juice and vinegar and so on. I don't know why, but I just like certain things. I actually don't mind the taste of chalk, either, and it does have many benefits.

I've heard about this and other weird pregnancy cravings too before. Though when I've been pregnant there was no out of the ordinary cravings. Once I craved hamburgers, once it was chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream...things like that.

Well I've never been pregnant but I know people who have and people don't always have weird cravings. They may have cravings, but not weird stuff. Like, a boss at one of my old jobs, she figured out that she was pregnant because she really craved Pepperoni's. She went to the store and just bought a thing of pepperoni and ate the entire thing in about an hour at work once. Or I had another friend who really didn't crave anything other than regular foods that she normally craves. On Friends (yeah i know it's a tv show)...Phoebe craved Meat but she was a vegetarian. That can happen. Also, just cause you crave it doesn't mean you have to eat it. So I wouldn't worry about craving chalk or anything more bizarre than ice cream and tomato sauce (that is weird!)

Hi coffeeshot! I never heard of chalk-cravings. I think that is really weird. I don't think we could get vitamins from chalks. Anyway, have seen pregnant women craving for mangoes and then dipping them in fish sauce. One relative of mine craved for a kind of fruit which is not in season and when her husband couldn't bring her the fruits she wanted to eat, threw a big tantrum. Well, I think it is because of the major hormonal changes happening inside our bodies that make them like this. But I am no expert and I am not pregnant yet. But don't worry, they say things like this normally happens during the first three months of pregnancy. Take care and have a nice day.

Daughter #1... watermelon, and fresh crab in the shell. Son... fresh boiled shrimp in the shell, and celery. Daughter # 2... fudgesicles! I think its pretty obvious why I had trouble losing the weight after having her! LOL!

I've been pregnant 3 times and the first time I craved for lemons which wasn't that weird. Obviously my body was asking for Vitamin C. However in the next pregnancy I craved for McDonald's fries dipped in chocolate thick shake which I still do today!!! and love it. It's the best salty fries with the taste of sweet chocolate runny ice cream puts a new meaning to "sweet & salty"
