Has anyone here built a wind turbine to use at home?

Hi there, I am doing a bit of research about building my own wind turbine for use around home. I have got some plans which I found on the net for 200Watt and 500Watt turbines. they are only small (about 20kg)and I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips to speed up the process. Apparently I need to spend about $200AU on materials and then put it together. let me know.
