As one of the most populous city in the world, there are already 5 subway lines in use here in Shanghai. It makes our daily life easy and comforable. Besides, another 5 lines are in constuction and they would be put to use before the end of 2010.I am really looking forward to it since it would be much easier to visit my grandmother for me.So how many subway lines are there in your city?

There are 0 Subway lines in our city! I live in England, and they aren't very popular here. I think subways are only in London?

it's nice to know that rate of improvement in shanghai. i think china has the most rate of improvement in terms of infrastructure. but not here in my country. we don't have a single subway. mostly our trains is similar to singapore. we call it Light rail transit or metro rail transit. it is not under ground. it's above ground. singapore is adding another train. this time it will a subway just like you have in china. teh construction are underway there. i hope that we will have one too.

I am from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It's not a great big city but it is bigger than some. But here in Lancaster our transportation is stricktly buses. No subways. NYC has a bunch. And when I go there I enjoy the subways or metro because I don't have to deal with any traffic besides the people.

well it is good that you have subway lines in the city you are living but human race is growing fast due to not walking, choosing to use cars and other means of transportation even to the shortest distances where it would take only some more minutes to get rather than going by any technologial means of transportation on the other hand the minutes that the modern and so-called social and interactive man thinks he has lost by choosing to walk in deed will contribute to his life span, rendering him immune to diseases, heart attacks and many newly dizcovered out of technologism handicaps and all above make him happy though he may not well understand it at first sight but sooner or later shall it be unobscured to him that as he walks he attaches into life walking on the ground which takes negative energy, boredom and fatigue of which about those who dwell in villages and those who live on land more than i do, from body and filling it with joy and happiness.

In Bucharest there are four main subway lines and another one under construction (a long slow construction, if I may add).

Rome is a very ancient town, full of archeological remnants and monuments..so it is very difficult finding place for an underground. At the moment we have only two lines, crossing in one and only point, the main railway station. Of course this is not enough because the town is big and transport are a crucial point for the quality of everyday life...but we have to find a good balance between our needs and the necessity to preserve such a monumental treasure. They are digging now in some areas in order to see if they can potentiate the line. Moreover, there is a project for creating new line in the outskirts. This seems an easier matter and we do hope they will start working soon.

the city that i live in is a fair sized city, but not a large one, so therefore, we have no subways (a large bus system though) but in toronto (canada) about 60 kms from me, there is a system with 3 lines on it...although i dont visit that city often, i have ridden the subway numerous times.

We have no subways here in Austin. Since we're on a limestone bed, it would be hard to - safely - dig one. We do have some tunnels under the downtown & all our utilities downtown are underground. My neighborhood also has the utilities underground, but my area was built up in the mid to late 1970s. Before the 70's the power/cable lines were on poles.

I live in Guangzhou. Right now there are three subway lines in our city. And there will be at least 10 subway lines in Guangzhou in the future. They are under construction. I think at that time the transportation will be much more convenient.

It is nice that you will have some more subway lines in Shanghai, which enables the traffic more smooth and convenient as the biggest city in China. When I was in Shanghai years ago, I enjoyed the subway lines very much. It is so fast and convenient. I am also glad to say that one or two subway lines are now under construction in Hangzhou as well to meet the demands of the Shanghai Expo in 2010 if I am not mistaken. It is really good news.

It's A pity xi'an haven't built a whole subway,so far one subway is in building!Xi'an is a big city includes 8 million people .At the same time ,it is also a city with along history! There are many historic sites such as mausoleums belowground,so it's very difficult to build a subway!
