Feeding babies????

It has been so very long since I've been responsible for feeding a baby. Both my kids now have babies and they ask me for help/advice and I do my best. So please help me refresh my memory, I know they do things a lot differently now than when I was a young mother. At what age do you start feeding them baby food? I know you start out with the cereal (rice/wheat/Oatmeal), then you can introduce some fruits and mix with or without the cereal, then veggies. How much & how often? 2 or 3 times a day? When do you introduce the baby food meats? In between all the baby food, do you still give the formula? If so, how much, how often? My grandbaby is 6 months old now and LOVES to eat, but she will cry cry cry like she is starving to death before her meals. I think maybe she wants more or is not being satisfied at each feeding. Please help to update this gramma, I believe you are never too old to learn.

I remember my son's pediatrician telling me once that babies will let you know when they are hungry and when they are full. It sounds like your grandbaby is hungry. By six months, this baby should be getting three meals a day plus the bottle. I don't remember what schedule my son was on by 6 months, but I do remember that he was taking watered down cereal at about 2 1/2 months. Also, the pediatrician said to introduce the baby foods one at a time so you can tell if that particular fruit or vegetable will cause an allergic reaction. If your baby likes that food let him/her eat it until he/she spits it out. They may not eat a full jar at each meal right at first. I would check with the doctor or a nurse at what age the little stomachs can handle the baby food meats. I really don't think things have changed that much gramma!

I began feeding my twins baby food at 6 months. I am a first time Mom and my twins were preemies. I had no idea when to feed them baby food. I was not sure they were ready for it. But, when their tongues began to thrust forward, I knew they were ready. I tried feeding them rice, they hated it, instead I feed them oatmeal. I did feed them every 4 hours if that helps you. My babies, almost 2, still hate table food. They are very, very, very picky and will only eat baby food. So I still feed them #3 Gerber meats in those jars. Sounds right, she is probably hunger and feeding her something, anything will calm her down and stop her crying. Hope this information helps you, gramma.

I have a six months old baby, who is the same he will cry just before his meals, but what I do I make sure that he has a bottle ready immediately after the solids. he cries when he is eating because the food is not coming as quick as he wants it to, i believe its because they are experimenting on different tastes and textures, outside their comfort zone! my baby still having meals twice a day! breakfast and evening meal. its hard to give him 3 times at the moment because he is still very reliance on milk! I am slowly to different tastes which is always funny, expecially their face expressions, the midwife always says give them food when they demand it but you have to remember their tummy's are small! its always worrying expecially with first baby as you are not sure what is right or wrong but parents knows best, they doubt because its all new but deep down they should trust their instints they always turn up to be right!
