Do you need to submit your blog personally to the Search Engines?

Blogs are usually hosted by blogging communities. These communities do take care of the content submission to the Search Engines. Do we need to submit these blogs personally as well? Can it harm the site rating due to the possible multiple submission by the author and the hosting site? Is there any directories that are not accessible by the hosting communities?

I think there is no harm in personally submitting your blog to search engines. In fact, there are webites which will submit your blog to may search engines all at once, and all for free! I think I have put up the link on my blog at http://promoteyourblog.blogspot.com - I can't remember the name of the website offhand right now. Multiple submissions do not harm anyone, so far as I know. That is because when you submit your blog, it just gets added to the list of blogs that the search engine bot (program) has to spider (go through the blog and index it). Free lists can be long, to jump the queue, you may have to pay (the search engine guys).

Hi, thank you for your feedback. How often would you re-submit your Web Site or blog to Search Engines or Web Directories?

Thanks a lot. I will check your suggestions. I just claimed my blog at Technorati, but it just one of the services, suggested on your blog promotion sites.
