..is it true that as people get older they hold on to more responsibilities?why?

I am 23 turning 24 tomorrow and feel like I'm turning 43. I starting work when I was 16 and provided almost everything for myself. Now I did have a roof over my head but that was about it. I bought my own cloths, food, gas, ...ect. Now I have two boys. I had one 3 months after my 21st birthday and one just this year. I have a lot of responsibily and sometime I feel that I just want to be a kid but I never got a chance.
