This week is a historic one for Singapore Airlines. Being my country's main airline, SIA took delivery of the first Airbus A380 superjumbo from Airbus at a ceremony in Toulouse, France on Monday. See a picture of what the aeroplane looks like. This evening, the plane was flown back to Singapore's Changi International Airport to a grand ceremony. I am without doubt feeling very proud as SIA is the first airline in the world to fly this superjumbo, on the Singapore-Sydney route commencing 25th October 2007. This also marks the advent of the giant double-decker plane into aviation service, and later next year, more airlines will fly this aircraft as well. I was so excited with anticipation about its arrival here that I drove all the way to the airport near where the runway is, to catch a glimpse of its arrival. And I wasn't disappointed, because at 6.40pm, it appeared in the sky from the sea off Changi before touching down. I do hope to be able to take a ride on one of these giant aircrafts one day. Maybe I'll plan a trip to Sydney one day in the near future to realise this. Do you all like air travel, and feel excited each time you have an opportunity to fly on one of these giant birds? One day, your airline too will fly the A380 as more planes are delivered by Airbus over the years. Will you, like me, be excited to welcome the superjumbos and look forward to getting on board one of these for a trip overseas? If so, share your excitement here!!

My friend, I am also excited for you to be able to realize this dream. The superjumbo planes will surely be a wonderful addition to the luxury of flying. Although I have never flown, myself...I know many people who swear that this is the best way to travel long distances... I completely understand your pride in your country's participation in this historic event. Hope all is well with you and your family, my friend... Blessed be, Tina

Hello Tina, I have not heard from you in a while. I was wondering if you had taken another break from myLot. Thank you for yr quick response - you have always been very supportive, and this I really appreciate. I'm actually surprised to learn that you have not flown previously. In this day and age, flying is very common. I hope you can enjoy air travel some day, not so much to experience flying per se, but to enjoy a holiday abroad in some other country. As for the A380, I'm really filled with pride that SIA not only has taken a giant step in aviation history, but Airbus has also acknowledged that SIA has in partnership with them, been instrumental in helping the aircraft company achieve a high standard of noise and fuel efficiency in the design of this new aircraft - a milestone Airbus is also very proud about.
