Are internet cameras safe to use ?

I was sitting here in my room, and i thought to myself is internet cameras safe to use? I don't have one but i know there are a lot of people out there who do. Tell me are they safe to use?

Internet camera is safe to use. You can use this as a medium to see your friends, relatives, or significant others in different places around the world on cam.
It is a great advantage to have it, as you can be able to see the person when you chat or communicate with him or her through instant messaging.
