Oh how lucky you are to have no bills or rent. I would have told the guy that I had the last laugh as he was probably knee deep in debt. These credit places like to suck you in and then when you have racked up a huge bill because it is easy to do then they charge you an arm and a leg for interest. I hate my credit cards and the interest I have to pay but in this world it is hard not to have one. I bet they are paid extra for signing people up as these companies are ruthless. Good luck at school!

That is really mean that he laughed at you! I wouldn't have taken that! It is non of his business to judge you on your income! I bet they are paid on commission, or he was just a really stupid jerk!

Having been on the telemarketing end of that kind of conversation, both inbound and outbound, yes, most places do offer commission. They also tend to pay a ton of money for little to no work. Laughing at your income was probably a bad play on his part though. In that situation, I'd probably take some offense and speak to a manager. It's not that hard to keep your cool when on their end of the phone, just imagine how many times they get rejected.

It was very unprofessional of him to laugh at your income. Good on you for turning him down. I worked in a bank for 16 years and believe me a credit card is the downfall of most young people, they run up the credit card to its max and then they are back to square one trying to pay it off. A credit card is for someone that is really very diciplined. Good luck with your studies and enjoy the no bills and no rent while you can.

You should be ashamed of it. You are doing something with your life instead of being a telemarketer. When he said you need another job you could have just replyed "Yeah I thought about taking a telemarketer job but I have to much brains to do a job like that." Then hang up. I myself like having fun with them most of the time. Other times I just repeat I'm not interested about 3-4 times then say bye.
