I joined toastmasters for over a year now and I can say that I can speak confidently in public to any crowd or number of people. At first, I sweat, butterflies in my stomach, I feel like urinating, lips shaking, knees clapping, whew! Thanks to the program of Toastmasters International, I got that confidence moving! How about you? What made your public speaking better or effective?

In school, I was bit of shy and had no opportunity to take part in public speaking. Only occasion I went on to stage is to receive the prize. Laster in 1st year of college, we started a club for young people and I was the secretary of the club, had to propose of vote of thanks. I mustered all strength, read a written speech and I was totally neverous. Once shy twice bitten was quite true, I did not try for some time. But being the secretary, I am supposed to coordinate the meeting of 80 odd members and I managed it month after month and facing the audience has become a common phenomenon. Now whether people listen to me or not, I can give lecture for hours.!!

I had the same problem. But I got over it thanks to my school teacher. Since I'm (according to her) "a good reader, with a strong voice" she always made me read in front of the class and take part in school plays. Now, though I'm more confident, I still get pretty nervous before speaking in public! It's great to know that you could find self-confidence!

Yes, it can be earned. Practice and frequent public speaking gave it to me. We can!

Well, I was once a teacher so I had a lot of public speaking experiences. Now, I still have a little practice of it. I tried to join Toastmasters but I quitted.
