Political correctness too far?

This is an easy one guaranteed to rile people up because it makes my blood boil but I cant help but think its gone too far now. Im not talking the way local government do everything and beyond to make everyone except natives of the country feel comfortable. Its even more than that. Ive heard too much recently about fostering and adopting children. There are so many out there who need that and yet it seems genuine couples are being thwarted at every turn. Not so long ago a council disallowed people who smoked from fostering children. Do you think this is fair as the childs health is at risk? Just recently another couple who had been fostering for years and had taken care of 28 children were stopped from fostering because as Christians they refused to discuss homosexuality. Is this fair as they should discuss all lifestyles no matter their own personal views? I can see pros and cons for all these arguments but I change my mind when I hear how a council who knew that a gay couple who were fostering children said they could not stop them fostering as they could be accused of homosexuality. Is that not just a step too far? Surely they should have the interests of the child at heart as per the smoking ban? Isnt this politcial correctness being abused?
