Have you ever been in a car accident?

A couple of months ago I rolled my 4-runner while trying to avoid two doe that had jumped in front of me. I had never been in an accident before. Not even as a passenger. I took out several trees and totaled my truck but what really sticks out in my mind was the fact that everything slowed down during the wreck. It was in slow motion. I remember every branch and tree tunk that I plowed through. I've heard that this happens to a lot of people and I was wondering how many on mylot have experienced that "slow motion" during an accident?

Oh WOW! I hope you came out without injuries!! I have only been in a couple of minor accidents - nothing like yours. My sister, my hubby - but then boyfriend, and I were coming back from the house my Grandmother cleans at (they let us swim there sometime - really nice people) about 10 years ago I guess. Anyway we were coming up on the stop light and it was green. Yet this car was STOPPED in the middle of the road right in front of it. The light had been green the entire time it was in our sight - and it's a long flat road. My hubby didn't realize they were stopped until it was too late so he swerved and took out the speed limit sign instead. It was VERY scary though! I honestly can't remember now if time slowed down. I know that I was a wreck afterwards and my sister said she could feel the sign moving the floor board up in the back. It could have been much worse than it was even with just hitting the sign. Just glad it didn't take the gas tank off! Another was again that summer with my hubby. For some reason he couldn't make the stop in time (think it was raining) and he bumped into the back of the car in front of us. They didn't suffer any damage and didn't feel the need to call anyone. My hubby's hood though was slightly dented. After a snow/ice storm in Indiana years back when I was stopping at a red light I was stopped but my car slide just a few inches barely and I mean barely tapping the car in front of me. It was so light they didn't even notice it! I was freaked out and I hate having to drink in that kind of weather because of the little things like that as well as the big things. That reminds me - it wasn't an accident cause I didn't hit anything but still scary as hell nonetheless. About a year or so after we moved back to Kentucky we got a few inches of snow while I was at work one evening. On my way home I hit a icy patch and it sent me in a 180 degree spin into the on coming lane. Luckily none one else was out because of the bad roads.

The accident you were in sounds very scary! Did you get seriously hurt from it? I've been in a few car accidents while I was the passenger. None of them were major, though in one of the accidents I hit my head on either the dash or the windshield. I hadn't been wearing a seatbelt (it wasn't the law at this time) and I was sitting on my grandmother's lap (I was a little kid then). So when my mom bumped into the car in front of us either my grandmother hit the windshield or I did and the other hit the dash. But I had blacked out for a second so I'm not sure which one of us hit what. My mom did get a nice big spider web looking break on her windshield from this. I remember hearing and seeing it break right before my eyes only moments after the accident. I have been in one accident as a driver. It was so minor that it was never reported though the other driver and I exchanged information.

I got hurt but nothing life threatening. A moderate-severe concussion, whiplash, sprained lower back, seatbelt bruises and fractured ankle. I have fibromyalgia so healing has been a process. I'm glad you were all right!

I'm glad you're all right! I can't imagine how scary that must have been! I hope you are recovering well. I know that serious accidents can take a long time to get over physically as well as emotionally. I'm glad you're alive!

The worse one I was ever in was when I was 17. I was crossing a 4 lane road at just after dusk with some friends on my way home. I was one step from the curb and a blinding light hit me. I remember the sensation of being airborn...hitting something hard several times and then hard wet pavement under me and a loud ringing in my head along with having the wind knocked out of me. I distantly remember someone calling my name and lights flashing. The next thing I knew I was in an ambulance and they were cutting my brand new white jeans and sweater off me. I had to hear from my friends and the police what happened. A woman and her b/f were driving with the headlights off (don't know why) and she hit me on the front right side of her car. I went over and hit the hood, the roof, the trunk and landed on the pavement. It took her almost a full block to stop her car. Some of my friends ran to my house to get my Mom and another one ran into a little party store on the corner where it happened and called the ambulance and the police. My Mom got there the same time the police did and they had already locked the woman in their patrol car (lucky for her or my Mom would've killed her) and her b/f took off running. I went to the hospital and believe it or not, nothing was broken. I couldn't hardly move for several days and the very next day was Thanksgiving Day. I guess I was thankful to be alive. By the way, they never did anything to the woman b/c she was on welfare. !!HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
